JUBA, July 6, 2026 — SPLM party has concluded its week-long Leadership Strategic Summit in Juba with a renewed commitment to peace, party unity, and preparations for South Sudan's December 2026 general elections.

Addressing the closing session, SPLM Chairman and President of the Republic, His Excellency Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit congratulated party leaders on the successful completion of the strategic deliberations, describing the meeting as a critical step toward strengthening the party's governance structures and electoral readiness.

"The purpose of this meeting was to generate ideas that can shape the governance structure of our movement. I am confident that your discussions have achieved these objectives," President Kiir said.

The Political Parties Council (PPC) has officially registered 39 political parties, making them eligible to participate in South Sudan's future electoral processes in accordance with the country's political parties framework.
