General Akech Tong Aleu, the Director General of Internal Security Bureau (ISI), awarded a number of senior National Security Officers with Certicates for their dedicated service to the Nation.

The ceremony held in Juba and was attended by senior SSPDF officers and other security officials.

General Akech urged the honoured senior security officers to continue upholding national security and stability.

Aweil Community receives remains of late Ambrose Pioth Lual Garang at Juba Funeral Home

The Aweil Community and members of the bereaved family have received the remains of the late Ambrose Pioth Lual Garang, who was killed by suspected robbers in Bor on Saturday night. The body is currently being kept at the mortuary of Juba Funeral Home as arrangements for transportation are being finalized.

Speaking to the media, Amb. Garang Deng Aguer, Serving Finance Secretary of the Federation of Aweil Community, expressed condolences to the bereaved family. He called on the family to remain calm as the community follows up with the Jonglei State Government after one suspect was reportedly apprehended.

Recalling the recurring nature of such incidents, Amb. Deng urged the Jonglei State Government to provide maximum protection to resilient citizens trying to earn a living.

Aweil Youth Chairman in Juba, Wol Deng Wol, appealed for calm as the community shoulders its responsibility. He urged Aweil young entrepreneurs operating businesses outside the area to take maximum precaution wherever they go. He added that willing entrepreneurs should consider operating in Aweil instead of traveling far to places where security is relatively less stable.

Aweil Youth Chairman in Bor, Aleu Garang Mawien, who accompanied the body, confirmed that one of the suspects was apprehended this morning and that legal processes are ongoing to ensure justice is served.

In attendance were: Amb. Garang Deng Aguer, Aweil East Chairman and Serving Finance Secretary of Federation of Aweil Community; Wol Deng Wol, Aweil Youth Chairman in Juba; Amet Majok Majok, Chairman of Aweil East Youth in Juba; Dau Akot Dau, Chairman of Aweil Business Association in Juba and family members of the late Ambrose.

Aweil Community renews call for calm and restraint amid social media tension

The Chairman of the Federation of the Aweil Community in Equatoria, Hon. Kuol Athian Mayuen, has once again appealed for calm among all sons and daughters of Aweil following rising tension on social media.

In a press release dated 29th of May, the Federation reaffirmed its support for the recent statement by Amb. Garang Deng Aguer, which urged unity and restraint within the community.

“Further to the recent press statement delivered by Mr. Garang Deng Aguer, I write with deep concern and a profound sense of responsibility to appeal for calm, restraint, and unity among all sons and daughters of Aweil,” Hon. Kuol said.

The Chairman emphasized that no member of the community should respond to insults or inflammatory remarks, warning that such reactions could deepen division and misunderstanding.

“As emphasized by Amb. Garang Deng Aguer, no member of the Aweil Community should respond to insults or inflammatory remarks through social media platforms or any other public forum. Rather than engaging in exchanges that may deepen misunderstanding and division, we should demonstrate maturity, dignity, and self-restraint,” the statement read.

Hon. Kuol further called on members to refrain from attacking or insulting fellow citizens for holding different opinions.

In conclusion, the Federation urged members to exercise dignified silence in the face of mockery, slander, or provocation, and to choose patience over confrontation.

“Silence should not be interpreted as weakness, but as a demonstration of discipline, respect for peace, and commitment to the greater good of the community and the nation at large,” the Federation added.
