: Why Hon. Adut Salva Kiir matters for South Sudan!
By Biong Deng Biong
In moments when South Sudan needs clarity, compassion, and real work, certain leaders stand out. Hon. Adut Salva Kiir, Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programs, is one of them. Her contribution is not about publicity. It is about service.
Why she is important!
A trusted bridge to the President!
She is the first daughter of President Salva Kiir, and she will never violate the trust he places in her. That trust matters because leadership at the highest level depends on accurate information. Think of it like a lens. When the lens is clear, decisions are sound. When it is foggy, the country suffers.
Since her appointment as Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programs, she has worked to restore connections the President had lost touch with over time. She actively helps reconnect him with old comrades, veterans and friends who fought alongside him, people whose advice and loyalty still matter for national stability.
She also brings communities closer to the presidency through direct engagement. She has organized and facilitated meetings between the President and traditional leaders, such as His Majesty the King of Cholla, king of the Azande, and among many others prominent community leaders. These meetings are not ceremonial, they create space for communities to connect with the President and rebuilt from the ground up.
With the President’s advanced age, having someone who ensures he is informed correctly and surrounded by the right voices is vital for South Sudan. She does not create confusion, she removes it. That loyalty and clarity is exactly what the country benefits from.
Why some resist her presence!
It is worth stating with empathy: the President’s advanced age means he needs protection from manipulation and misinformation. Leaders who are loyal, informed, and unwilling to compromise truth make it harder for others to take advantage of that stage in life. That is precisely why some who want access without accountability do not want her around him. Her presence closes the door on exploitation and keeps the focus on the country’s interest, not personal gain. This is not about conflict. It is about safeguarding the integrity of the presidency.
Humanitarian at heart!
Her humanitarian work cuts across all communities in South Sudan. She does not pick who deserves help based on background. For instance, when floods come, when mothers need support, when children lack basics, she shows up. That consistency proves her love is for the whole country, not for just a section. Unity is not a slogan for her, it is practice.
Entrepreneur and job creator!
Beyond the office, she has built enterprises that employ thousands of young South Sudanese. She does not ask for tribe, region, or connections before giving someone a chance. In a country where unemployment steals hope, creating dignified work is nation-building. Every young person with a job is one less person at risk, and one more person contributing to our future.
Love for country and people!
What you notice first about her is character. Humble, confident, and grateful for every small step of progress. She celebrates milestones because she understands that nation-building is built step by step. Her intentions for South Sudan are sincere, and her patriotism is not performative. It shows in how she treats people, from elders to youth.
What she is not!
As an advisor (NOT an Executive), she advises and influences, but she does not make final decisions. The power to arrest, prosecute, or detain belongs to the justice system and security organs. Blaming her for actions of those institutions misinterprets how government works.
She in charge of the economy!
Economic policy, budgets, and national financial decisions rest with the executive arm of government. She does not have direct oversight there. Expecting her to fix macroeconomic challenges alone is to place on her a burden the structure does not give her.
She not responsible for the actions of others!
She brings people close to mentor, empower, and influence them toward better choices. But she cannot control what every person does once they leave her presence. If someone abuses trust or acts wrongly, she can only distance herself and ask them to stay away. Character is personal, it cannot be transferred.
On her private life!
Her private life must be respected. She is a decent person who does not deserve to be mocked on social media simply because she is a woman and wants to live like a normal person. We can disagree on politics, we can debate policy, but we must not strip away human dignity. A woman’s right to privacy is not weakness. It is a standard we should all defend.
In Conclusion, South Sudan does not need more division. We need more leaders who combine humility, confidence, and service without seeking the spotlight. Hon. Adut Salva Kiir reflects that kind of leadership. She serves the President faithfully, she creates opportunities for youth, she reaches communities with compassion, and she reminds us that progress is possible when intentions are pure.
Having worked closely with her, I have seen firsthand that her commitment to South Sudan is genuine. My perspective is shaped by direct experience, and I believe the public deserves to hear it.
If you believe South Sudan deserves leadership that builds rather than breaks, share this respectfully. Let us celebrate those who are working for the country, and let us protect their dignity while we do it.
