Addis Ababa, 15th February 2025-- President Salva Kiir Mayardit joined other African leaders on Saturday to participate in the 38th Ordinary Assembly of the Heads of State and Government for the African Union, AU summit.

The summit was held under the theme "Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations," which will focus on advancing reparatory justice and fostering racial healing across the continent.

Angola President H.E João Manuel Lourenço took the mantle as the new Chairperson of African Union from Mauritania President H.E Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.

The Summit will culminate in the election of the next Africa Union Commission Chairman.

Friday, 14th Feb, 2025.

This evening, the leadership of Tonj Youth Union in Juba under the able chairman Madut Gabriel Thokriel called an emergency meeting to address some pressing issues that are unfolding back home.

Chairman Madut called this emergency meeting to meet with all the various Payam Chairpersons of three Tonj, respectively. Since the meeting was an immediate one, the few made it to turned up while the majority missed the meeting with apologies.

The resolutions for the emergency meeting were;

1. A come together for all Tonj communities Youth leaders in Juba to critically think on how to fashion the modality that would be a propeller to bring peace among the conflicting communities in Tonj. It was more of "what to be done." This deliberation was made on the premises that as the youth, the chance of calming situation back home are incredibly quite higher since the perpetrators of the conflict are our fellow youth.

2. The meeting also agreed to send their voices on the immediate call for cessation of hostilities among conflicting parties and demanding peaceful coexistence among the sisters' communities that have collided over trivial issues. The youth leaders thought it wise as they wait for the government intervention.

3. Thirdly, it was resolved to meet the governor of warrap state to express their earnest wish for peace at home and share views on pressing issues fueling the conflict.
The alarming conflict among Tonj communities is threatening. It threatens not only live security but also food security. This tells more of the potential doom that awaits so near to overtake and brutally ripe apart the greater Tonj communities. This is a concern for not only Tonj youth and elders but also a concern for all peace loving citizens of South Sudan. The lives of our people back matter.

Therefore, Tonj youth Union in Juba is alarmed and scared of what our home is turning into. We call on our people to have a change of heart and we also call on state and national government to consider making the possible strategy to save the "about to extinct Tonj" death no longer sound chocking. We have seen the most atrocious scene ever. Women and children die not of natural death but by the sword of the misinformed youth would turn into a terrorist of his own people.
Save our lives—Tonj is sinking —Tonj is bleeding!😭

Tonj North fighting claims five lives

A fighting took place on Thursday in Tonj North County of Warrap State has claimed five lives and the gelweng burns down two markets of Rual Bet and Awul Payam altogether.

This Intercommunal violence in Tonj North County, has already resulted in at least five confirmed deaths and one injured person and totally burned down their local markets into ashes.

The incident happened on Thursday around 4a.m. between two communities Atok Buk and Awan Parek.

Maj. Ajal Bol Bol, director of the criminal investigation department in the county, says that the fighting was a retaliatory response when a seven suspected cattle raiders from Awan Parek were killed by Atok armed men in January this year.

“On Thursday an Armed men believed to have come from Awan Parek in Rualbet Payam attacked Awuol Payam headquarters, which is the Atok community administrative unit,”

“The fighting leaves three people dead from Atok and two attackers from Awan Parek.”

However, he added that the area is now enjoying relative calm after the attackers were repulsed.

Warrap State has been experiencing similar attacks, particularly in greater Tonj.
Various studies have found out that one of the causes of cattle rustling and banditry menace is ungoverned space, which serves as hideouts for the criminals.

Other factors include weak security systems, porous borders, and the proliferation of arms. Officials say the youth, locally known as gelweng, are more heavily armed than the police.

In addition, they suggest that youth raid animals to meet pride price demands.

Liberian President Joseph Boakai has suspended 450 top officials for not declaring their assets to the anti-corruption agency.

Those suspended include the ministers for education and health, as well as the special envoys for tourism and investment.

The president said failure to comply undermined efforts to combat corruption and ensure accountability.

Queen Zee reveals missing son has contacted her from Turkey

Singer Queen Zee has shared that her son, who has been missing since December 26, 2024, has contacted her using a Turkish phone number.

In a Facebook post, Queen Zee shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation that she claims is from her son. The teenager apologized for running away from home.

The boy, who completed his Primary 8 exams in Juba last year, had disappeared without a trace, causing immense concern for the singer and her family.

Expressing her relief, Queen Zee wrote:

“Oh. My. God 🙏🤩🙏 It’s unbelievable 🙆🏽❤️‍🩹

Come home, son… I love you. 😍”

Fans and well-wishers have flooded her post with messages of support, hoping for the teenager’s safe return.

Sub; What's the current status of Apuk Youth Association in kuajok (Formally known as Gogrial East Youth Association)

I'm here writing as one of Gogrial East ' youth in kuajok who use to interact and served Apuk community through Associations. I'm deeply moved by unclear status of GEYA in kuajok to ask you, whether the association is currently operational or suspended.

Dear Chairman, I know you're one of characters who inspired, motivated and shaped the youths of Gogrial East county and beyond. You're true, real, genuine and standard definition of visionary, ambitious and patriotic youth in community.

Dear Chairman, I wanna let you know that to maintain the qualities of good leader you have to listen to other youths who are younger than you, however it's also necessary to inspired other to have ambitious of becoming like you, this make it clear that you must be God- Chosen leader.

To be specific I wanna tell you to revived and reformed GEYA as you are top and prominent Apuk Youth' Leader. As youth of Gogrial East I kindly request your attention to look into the matter of bringing back the GEYA to life again. It look so ambivalence for Youth Union-Juba functioning and State Base association dying.

To be brief I would like to concluded, that one hand doesn't clap, supervision and Care are essential in every aspect of Leadership, Therefore assess the Kuajok_ base Association by forming a committee with kuajok town to handle the matter and Make Apuk great Again.

USAID Offices Locked, Employees Sent Home as U.S. Pauses Foreign Aid Projects

The U.S. Department of State has temporarily closed the headquarters of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Washington, D.C., following President Donald Trump's decision to pause all foreign aid projects. In response, President Trump appointed Secretary Marco Rubio as Acting Administrator of USAID. Rubio has informed Congress that a comprehensive review of the agency's foreign assistance activities is underway, with the possibility of restructuring in the future.

Rubio emphasized that the review would ensure USAID’s efforts align with the "America First" agenda and support the goals of the State Department, while protecting U.S. taxpayers' interests and preventing waste.
