The Ministry of General Education and Instruction has reported significant progress in the latest secondary school certificate examinations despite operational challenges. Out of 46,153 registered students, 377 candidates were absent from the fourth-year exams, which ran for nine days starting in early December. Minister Kuyok Abol Kuyok noted that male candidates outperformed their female counterparts, recording an 81% pass rate compared to 79.2% for females.

The Ministry of General Education and Instruction has officially released the 2025 Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) examination results, revealing a national pass rate of 80.7 percent. Announcing the results at a press conference in Juba on Tuesday, the Minister of General Education and Instruction, Kuyok Abol Kuyok, stated that 36,950 out of the 45,776 candidates who sat for the exams successfully passed. A total of 46,153 candidates initially registered for the examinations, which were conducted between December 1 and 9, 2025. However, 377 candidates were absent. Demographically, male candidates achieved an 81 percent pass rate, slightly outpacing the 79.2 percent recorded by female candidates. Minister Kuyok noted distinct performance trends across academic subjects, with Christian Religious Education (CRE), Agriculture, and Biology showing the greatest improvement. Conversely, General Science, Citizenship, and Commerce registered the weakest performances.

By law, the National Elections Commission (NEC) is required to publish the final list of registered voters on June 22, a step that will officially determine who can participate in the general elections scheduled for December 2026.

Speaking in Juba on Tuesday, Moyi stated that managing the examination process becomes increasingly difficult each year due to limited resources and tight financial constraints within the education sector. Despite these hurdles, Moyi explained that staff at the National Examination Council worked tirelessly throughout the marking and processing phases to ensure the results were successfully finalized. The Deputy Minister emphasized that achieving the timely release of future examination results will require broader, macroeconomic improvements across the country, rather than just targeted support for the Examination Council alone.
