Speech Of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit at the National Prayers Breakfast

Fellow citizens,

I welcome you with humility to this national breakfast prayers.

The goal of these prayers is to seek God's guidance and blessings for our country.

Since we are here today to pray, our reflections today will not be on politics, but on the renewal of our hopes in the shared responsibility of building a better South Sudan.

It is for the better country that I am calling upon South Sudanese from all religious backgrounds to be champions of peace.

When reflecting on our long struggle, we can record that our independence was achieved through sacrifices and prayers, Today I called upon to revisit these practices and qualities as we work to overcome challenges facing our country.

In the spirit of those sacrifices, I am urging those in position of authority to serve with honesty, humility and accountability. As we walk toward National healing.We can do this by rejecting division, tribalism, hatred and revenge and embrace dialogue,
forgiveness and conservation.

Let us be guided by integrity in all we do and seek God's guidance in our efforts to protect everybody even in our resources allocation.

Pan-African Activist PLO Lumumba Arrives in Juba for Engagements with Locals and International Community

Renowned Pan-African activist Prof. PLO Lumumba has arrived in Juba ahead of a series of engagements with both the local population and the international community.

Lumumba is widely known in South Sudan for his viral controversial speech in which he remarked that Africa’s challenge lies in leaders who hold power but lack ideas, and oppositions who have ideas but lack power. In that speech, he made a pointed reference to President Salva Kiir, saying he has power but lacks ideas, while Dr. Riek Machar has ideas but lacks power.

Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey has denied ra**ng two women and sexually assaulting a third woman.

The Ghanaian midfielder pleaded not guilty to five counts of r**e and one charge of sexual assault when he appeared at Southwark Crown Court.

The alleged offences took place between 2021 and 2022, when the 32-year-old regularly played in the Premier League. He was charged four days after leaving the north London club, following the expiration of his contract at the end of June.

Mr Partey was granted bail until his trial, which is due to start at the same court on 2 November next year.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐒𝐄𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 — President Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Commander-in-Chief of all organized forces, on Monday presided over the promotion of several senior officers in the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) and the National Security Service (NSS).

The ceremony, held at the President’s office, was attended by the Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, General Chol Thon Balok.

Among those elevated was Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, who was promoted from Lieutenant General to full General in the NSS.

The Minister of National Security, Mamur Obote Mete, also rose from Lieutenant General to General, while the Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, Madut Dut Yel, received the same promotion.
