🚨 “Dor” Debate Explodes Online — But Are People Missing the Bigger Picture?
I’ve been seeing all these discussions about “Why is Bro Winner calling us Dor?” and honestly, I feel like many people are taking this issue too far without first trying to understand both sides.
As Equatorians too, let’s be honest with ourselves — we also have names we casually call Dinkas all the time: “Jienge,” “MTN,” “Kwarkwar,” and others. We say these things jokingly and laugh about them, so why do we become extremely offended the moment something is said back to us? Before criticizing others or labeling certain names as disrespectful, we should also ask ourselves whether we would accept the names we give other people.
And the truth is, “Dor” is not even an insult. That’s simply how the Dinka community refers to people who are not Dinkas. Sometimes people need to understand the meaning behind words before turning everything into anger and tribal tension online.
At first, even I thought the word was offensive because I didn’t know where it came from. But after understanding it, I realized many people were reacting emotionally rather than logically. Not every nickname automatically means hatred.
At the end of the day, we are all South Sudanese. We cannot keep attacking each other over every small thing while preaching unity at the same time. Sometimes we really need to mature, stop overreacting, and focus on what truly matters instead of constantly finding new reasons to divide ourselves.
And honestly speaking, I personally don’t see anything wrong with Bro Winner’s song.
