JUST IN: President Salva Kiir and the Chairman of SPLM has announced major changes in the party following the appointment of Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel as Vice President this week. The change includes several revocations and reassignments within key party positions.

Revocations:

1. Benjamin Bol Mel – First Deputy Secretary General (revoked due to new role as Vice President)

2. Santo Malek – Secretary for Political Affairs and Political Mobilization.

3. Bol Makueng – Secretary for External Affairs.

4. Gen Kuong Danhier – Secretary for Defence and Security

Reassignments:

1. Gen Kuong Danhier – First Deputy Secretary General.

2. Bol Makueng – Secretary for Political Affairs and Political Mobilization.

JUST IN: President Salva Kiir has relieved newly appointed Director General of National Security Service's Internal Security Bureau Gen. Akec Tong Aleu, and Western Equatoria Governor Alfred Futuyo Karaba, in decrees on Monday evening. The president also revoked the appointment of SPLM Secretary General Peter Lam Both and appointed Dr. James Wani Igga in his place.

BREAKING NEWS: President Salva Kiir has sacked vice presidents Dr. James Wani Igga and Hussein Abdelbagi in presidential decrees read on SSBC on Monday. In separate decrees, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel has replaced Dr. Igga while Josephine Lagu appointed in Abdelbagi's place.

The National Elections Commission has started countrywide consultations with stakeholders on planned elections in December this year.
The commission’s team today held a consultative engagement with stakeholders in Jonglei State aimed to establish a state electoral commission office.
Commission member, Amos James Ochaya says after establishment, the state electoral commission members will go for training on conducting elections.
"About civic education, we are working on the document and the messages to be pass to people which are ready, soon will be out and to be translated to local languages whereby the message will reach at the bomas level,” said Ochaya.
