Parliament renews its summons for the Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority, to appear before the House to respond to questions regarding non-oil revenue collections.

Commissioner General, Africano Mande, was expected to appear before the MPs last week, but failed to turn up.

Chairperson of the Information Committee in the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Oliver Mori Benjamin says the legislators want to understand how much non-revenue is collected, the mode of remittances to banks and the types of accounts held.

"The Head of State made it clear that the collection of the non-oil revenue was sufficient enough to pay even the salaries of the government employees and other services, so he cannot escape the Parliament. He did not come and now a reminder has been sent to him for him to appear in the Parliament,” said Benjamin.

Commissioner General Africano Mande was summoned alongside the Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater.

Minister Dongein appeared before Parliament last week and responded to questions regarding the delay in payment of civil servants’ salaries.
