President Kiir’s Press Secretary wanted for ‘criminal intimidation & defamation’

The Office of the President has been asked to release Press Secretary, David Amuor Majur to face criminal charges of intimidation and defamation.

According to a letter from the Legal Administration and Public Prosecution Attorney in Juba, dated 2nd September 2025, lawyer Josephine Adhet Deng filed a case against Majur under Sections 245 and 289 of the Penal Code Act, 2008, of the Transitional Constitution of South Sudan.

The police warrant reads: “You are hereby directed to arrest the said person and bring him before the crime officer in charge of the police station.”

The case follows the circulation of an alleged audio recording on social media, in which Majur was heard in a heated exchange with a woman.

So far, the Office of the Chief Administrator in the Presidency, to whom the request was directed, has not issued any response.

Warrap woman burns co-wife’s son with hot water

Police in Wunrok Payam, Twic County, Warrap State, have arrested 28-year-old Aluat Garang for allegedly pouring hot water on her co-wife’s 17-year-old son.

Police Inspector Lt. Col. Atem Deng Atem said the incident occurred Saturday night in Panrual village, Titcok Boma, after the woman quarreled with the boy for taking her firewood to burn in the cattle camp.

“She quarreled with her co-wife 17-year-old boy. At night, the boy went to sleep at the cattle camp. The woman that same night boiled water and she went to the cattle camp where the boy was sleeping and poured hot water on child’s body,” Atem said.

The boy, Adhar Dau Akech Thokluoi, sustained serious burns to his chest, stomach, and private parts. He is now admitted to Mayen Abun Hospital for treatment, while the suspect remains in police custody in Wunrok town as investigations continue.
