Yambio Star SC Cruise Past Al-Taharir FC to Reach Quarterfinals

Yambio Star SC produced a dominant performance in the South Sudan Cup (Yambio Local Football Association) Round of 16, thrashing Al-Taharir FC (Yambio) 4-0 to secure their place in the quarterfinals of the 2025–26 edition.

The second half belonged to Yambio Star as their attacking duo, Emmana Pukki and Sunday Matuidi, each bagged a brace. Emmana broke the deadlock in the 56th minute before doubling the lead just eight minutes later with a composed finish. Matuidi then took charge, striking in the 71st minute and capping off the victory with a late goal in the 90th minute.

Yambio Star nearly had a fifth when Biko Bage was brought down inside the box deep into stoppage time. Emmana stepped up for what could have been his hat-trick, but the chance was squandered, leaving the final score at 4-0.

Meanwhile, in another Round of 16 clash, Villa United were held to a 1-1 draw against Mukongo United at Yambio Freedom Square. The match was decided by penalties, where Villa United held their nerve to win 4-2 in the shootout.

The result sets up a mouth-watering quarterfinal tie between Villa United and Yambio Star SC, with Villa United hosting the clash.

El-Merriekh SC Bentiu Begin Training in Dar es Salaam Ahead of Azam FC Clash

El-Merriekh SC Bentiu have held their first training session in Dar es Salaam as they prepare for the decisive second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round qualifier against Tanzania’s Azam FC. The session took place at the KMC Sports Complex, where the two sides will meet on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

The South Sudanese side face an uphill task after suffering a 2-0 defeat at home in the first leg. With the aggregate scoreline against them, El-Merriekh SC Bentiu will need to overturn the deficit in Tanzania if they are to keep their continental campaign alive.

Amal Al-Hura FC Juba boosted their chances of progressing in the Juba Local Football Association South Sudan Cup preliminary round after a 2-0 victory over El-Etihad FC Juba. The win keeps Amal Al-Hura’s qualification hopes alive as they look ahead to the next round of the competition.

In other matches played on Wednesday, Rock City FC cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win against a struggling Jubek FC, while Al-Nasir FC showed resilience by coming from a goal down to edge Gurei United in a narrow but decisive victory.

The results leave the competition finely poised as teams battle for a spot in the next stage of the prestigious local tournament.

Viva Star FC Clinch First Win of the Season Against Simba FC Juba

Viva Star FC secured their first victory of the season in the Juba Local Football Association First Division League with a 2-1 win over Simba FC Juba on Wednesday evening at the Buluk Training Center.

Riek Pur Jany scoring the equalizing goal for Viva Star in the 40th minute, giving his side a 1-1 all draw heading into the break. In the second half, Mangisto Jidu Ceaser, popularly known as “Mbappé,” doubled the advantage in the 60th minute to put Viva Star firmly in control.

Despite Simba FC’s late efforts to mount a comeback, they managed only one goal, as Viva Star held on to claim all three points with that win Viva Star FC move now second on the table after playing games draw one and win one having 4 points and one goal.

Viva Star FC will now turn their focus to their upcoming fixture against Amarat United, scheduled for Thursday, 2nd October 2025, at 3:00 PM, again at the Buluk Training Center.
