Morobo County Hosts Civil-Military Dialogue to Address Outstanding Security Issues
Morobo County, Central Equatoria
A three-day civil-military dialogue is currently underway in Morobo County, bringing together local civilians, organized forces, chiefs, youth leaders, and representatives from all five payams to address lingering concerns and foster cooperation between the population and security personnel.
The dialogue, which began yesterday at Don Bosco Catholic Church, is organized by the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) and its consortium partners. It is being facilitated by the Diocesan Bishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, Lordship Amos Data, alongside the Bishop of the Charismatic Church, Lordship Dada Isaiah.
In his opening remarks, Morobo County Executive Director Ezbon Gale emphasized the importance of stable security as a foundation for development, highlighting Morobo's rich historical and cultural heritage.
Civilians praised the role of such dialogues in restoring peace and facilitating the return of displaced residents. While many noted improved coexistence with the organized forces in recent months, they also pointed out that some resolutions from previous engagements remain unimplemented.
The organized forces, in turn, called for greater collaboration from local leaders and communities, particularly in the sharing of credible security information, which they said is vital for ensuring lasting peace.
The dialogue is scheduled to conclude tomorrow with the attendance of Morobo County Commissioner Hon. Charles Data Bullen, who has just returned from an international mission.
This civil-military engagement is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local peace mechanisms and build mutual trust between communities and security actors in South Sudan.
