Deng Pakeny, our ancient rain god,
Whose blessings once graced this sod
We call on your mighty name with pleas,
Lest your people be left in distress.

Though other deities now claim their place,
Our hearts still turn to your embrace.
In our songs, we sing your praise anew,
Honoring the ways of days long through.

We ask that you not forget your own,
Those who hold your memory sewn
Into the fabric of our mortal lives,
Where your provision ever thrives.

Reopen the paths that you once blessed,
Where water flowed and fish did rest.
Grant us the harvest of your grace,
That we may bask in your guiding face.

Deng Pakeny, our rain god true,
We lift our voices, pleading to you.
Shower your blessings, far and wide,
That your people may in you abide.

When the rain descends from the skies,
Our hearts swell with deep-rooted ties.

People who expose us to novel perspectives and mindsets are invaluable. They push us out of our comfortable, familiar ways of understanding the world and challenge us to consider alternative frameworks. This can be profoundly eye opening and transformative.

We have to step outside our default modes of thinking in order to comprehend their point of view.
