Official Statement by Anyak George Anyak on Yirol West County Football Team Withdrawal from LSPT Tournament:

Since the tournament is being run without clear rules that guide and protect all teams equally, a competition without rules is not a tournament and there is no structure to appeal or seek fairness. We have all witnessed that some teams need favorism to survive but not rules. Are we not left exposed?

Inasmuch as our concerns were ignored, and our dignity tested by incompetent LSPT management on the very day of the incident, we have continued to show up, play with heart, and represent our community with pride.

Let it be known, Yirol West County Football Team is the best team in Lakes State, not because of size or budget, but because of character, unity, and resilience. A team that stands together when no one else stands with them is a team worth protecting. And the best way we can protect ourselves right now is to withdraw like what we did.

I want to be very clear to LSPT and their co; that even if a meeting is conducted in Nasir, Pajut, Akobo, Iran or the USA, our decision will not change. We will never reverse it. We are not withdrawing out of fear or weakness. We are withdrawing out of principle. We will not participate in a tournament that refuses to govern itself by fair rules while allowing our team to be mocked, bullied, and sacrificed.

A 21-year-old South Sudanese asylum seeker, Friday Rout, has been sentenced to seven months in prison in the UK after arriving across the English Channel in a small boat on 26 May.

ALM — Rout pleaded guilty to attempting to enter the UK without valid clearance. He told the court he was seeking safety and security after fleeing conflict in South Sudan.

Judge Simon James said there was significant public concern over illegal border crossings and ruled that the offence warranted an immediate custodial sentence.

The court heard Rout had no previous convictions or immigration history in the UK and was among 55 people travelling on an overcrowded inflatable boat. Prosecutors said he admitted steering the vessel for about an hour during the crossing.

His asylum claim remains outstanding.

The Resource Mobilization Committee, led by its Chairman, Pato Kuoi, officially commenced its activities today, 1 July 2026.

As part of its resource mobilization efforts, the committee of the South Sudan Wrestling Media Federation paid a courtesy visit to Makuei Chiec Ajok this afternoon. He warmly welcomed the delegation and generously contributed US$500 toward the upcoming inauguration ceremony.

The committee sincerely appreciates Makuei Chiec Ajok for his continued support of young people and community initiatives. His generosity and commitment to empowering youth are truly commendable.
