Ngere's office denies a report of alleged disruption over medical allowances

The Office of the Speaker of the National Assembly has rejected reports alleging that a group of revoked members of parliament stormed the Speaker's office to demand medical allowances.

"The Office of the Right Honorable Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) strongly rejects the false reports circulating on social media regarding an alleged incident at the Speaker’s office. The online fabrications claim that tension erupted within the TNLA and that certain members stormed the Speaker’s office to demand medical allowances and threaten legal action."

Speaker's Press Secretary, Abraham Telar Kuc, said the reports were intended to mislead the public and urged citizens to disregard the allegations.

"The Office of the Speaker states categorically that these allegations are entirely baseless, untrue, and malicious. No such incident occurred. This disinformation is intentionally designed to mislead the public and disrupt institutional order. We urge the media and the public to completely disregard these reckless rumors and rely solely on official communications from the Assembly," he stated.

Reports circulating online alleged that some of the 47 SPLM-IO members who were revoked by President Salva Kiir had gone to the office of Speaker Joseph Ngere Paciko to demand their medical allowances. However, the Speaker's office has publicly denied the claims.

BREAKING: Yambio Inter-area tournament's committee elections set for Monday

The Yambio County Youth Association says it will hold a meeting on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the WPDI Main Office on Naduru Road to plan the June Inter-Area Football Tournament.

At the meeting, youth will elect a chairperson and committee to run the tournament, set up a trustees committee, and discuss preparations. Each area in Yambio County is asked to send two people: the area youth leader and a sports representative.

It’s not yet clear if the Western Equatoria State Ministry of Culture, Youths and Sports or the Yambio Football Association are involved in the election.

However, Joseph Apai Arkangelo, who served as chair of the committee last year, is likely to be re-elected for another term this year.

Ateny Wek denies claims of planned arrest of Amb. Garang Deng Aguer

Government spokesman, Minister Ateny Wek has dismissed claims that there is a plan to arrest a leader of Aweil Community in Juba, Ambassador Garang Deng Aguer.

Speaking during a meeting organized by the Aweil South Football Association at Yam Hotel this evening, Ateny questioned the basis of the allegations.

“If Akol Koor who was the head of National security got arrested, then who is Garang Deng Aguer not be arrested if there is a plan to arrest him?” Ateny asked in a meeting organized by the Aweil South football Association this evening at Yam Hotel.

In a video clip obtained by Your Voice News, Ateny also denied allegations circulating on social media that he was given money to travel to London to arrest an asylum seeker over alleged defamation.

“It was alleged that I was given 2 million USD to go to London to arrest the person because of being defamed. If Adut Kiir Mayardit gave me that money because I am defamed, then why she did not use that money to open the case because she was also defamed. And by the way, if I get that money, I would have resigned because you work to get money,” Ateny also added.

The minister further rejected allegations that he collaborated with others to betray Aweil, describing such claims as unfounded.

The remarks come amid ongoing discussions on social media involving public figures from the Aweil community.

Community leader condemns attack on UN Agency along Kotobi-Mundri road

The leadership of the Greater Mundri Community Organization (GMCO), Mundri-base, has strongly condemned an attack on a United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) vehicle along the Kotobi-Mundri road in Karika on 29 May 2026. The attack was carried out by unidentified armed individuals and resulted in the seizure of agency property, including phones and other valuables, but no casualty reported.

Speaking to the media, GMCO representative Gideon Juma condemned the incident and urged authorities to investigate and apprehend the perpetrators.

"On behalf of the Greater Mundri Community Organization, I condemn this targeted attack on humanitarian agencies. It endangers the lives of our people and it is unfortunate and unacceptable. We condemn it in the strongest terms," he said.

The community also called on local leaders in Kotobi and Karika to cooperate fully with government authorities to bring the attackers to justice.

"Local leaders should provide maximum cooperation to authorities in dealing with and bringing the perpetrators to book. They [leaders] should also preach peace to the people in the area," he added.

The UNOPS vehicle was returning from a registration exercise of the beneficiaries in Karika Boma, Kotobi Payam, to Mundri town at around 4:00 PM when the incident occurred.

The United Nations Office for Project Services, UNOPS, is a UN agency working in South Sudan to plan and deliver government-backed development projects.

It handles project management, buys supplies, and builds key infrastructure like roads, schools, clinics, and water points. Reports show the agency is currently targeting more than 4,000 people across four payams in Mundri West County.

As of the time of publication, authorities had not yet commented on the incident.

Why PSG won't be allowed to keep original Champions League trophy after beating Arsenal

After beating Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal, PSG were allowed to lift the famous “big ears” trophy during the presentation ceremony. However, UEFA rules do not allow any club to permanently keep the original Champions League trophy.

According to Article 11 of the UEFA Champions League regulations, the original trophy always remains the property of UEFA and is kept by the organization. The trophy used during the final presentation and other official UEFA events must be returned after the celebrations. The winning club instead receives a full-size replica trophy.

UEFA also imposes strict conditions on the replica. The trophy must remain under the club’s control, cannot leave the club’s country without UEFA’s written permission, and cannot be used in ways that create commercial associations with sponsors or third parties.

So, although PSG successfully defended their Champions League title by defeating Arsenal on penalties in Budapest, the original trophy will return to UEFA’s headquarters, while PSG will keep an official replica for display and celebrations.
