PHOTOS: Agel R. Machar Stranded on Poor Road

Barely a day after Agel R. Machar shared a glimpse of the poor road conditions between Gogrial West and Wunrok Payam in Twic County, where he said he spent 12 hours, Twic Media Reports obtained these pictures from Agel’s Facebook Story showing the situation he endured.

Agel can be seen looking tired and helpless as his stuck vehicle is dug out by Good Samaritans.

One of the vehicle’s wheels can be seen hanging in the air like a frog jumping over it limit as people work to free it.

JUST IN! The Office of the Caretaker Governor of Jonglei State says Governor Moses Majok Gatluak Thou has reconstituted the state’s local government by appointing six caretaker county commissioners.

According to the office, the appointments were made through a Gubernatorial Decree issued today, Friday, October 2, 2026.

The newly appointed commissioners are Mai Meat Thoan for Akobo County, Gatluak G*i Teny for Ayod County, and Daniel Deng Panchol for Bor County.

Others are Manyang Gatluak Bany for Fangak County, Nhial Deng Puuch for Pigi County, and Biel Lam Pech for Uror County.

The appointment of the six caretaker commissioners brings the number of recently appointed caretaker county commissioners to include those for Twic East and Duk counties, according to the Governor’s office.

The appointments take immediate effect from the date of signing, according to the decree.

The Caretaker Governor of Warrap State Amb.Bol Wek Agoth has officially appointed six State caretaker Ministers who were previously serving before Government dissolution. According to the Gubernatorial Decree read out at Kuajok 99:00FM, government owned radio detailed that Amb.Bol has officially appointed Six officials before returning to the state capital-Kuajok .

The appointees Caretaker Ministers are as follows:

1- William Wol Mayom Bol,S/Caretaker Minister of Information

2-Philip Severino Bazia, S/Caretaker Minister of Local Government.

3-Makom Manyuon Ater, S/Caretaker Minister of Finance.

4-Molana Solomon Bol Mabior, S/Caretaker Minister of General Education.

5- Dr. Anthony Wek Garang, S/ caretaker Minister of Health.

The number of pupils registered to sit this year's primary school examinations in Unity State has fallen compared with last year, according to education officials.

The State Ministry of General Education says 4,579 pupils have registered for the examinations this year, down from 5,045 in 2025.

The ministry's Director for Quality Assurance, Luka Matuak, says widespread flooding, which has affected schools and displaced communities across parts of the state, is one of the main reasons for the decline.

However, he urged parents to continue sending their children to temporary learning centres set up on higher ground.

In Mayiendit County alone, education authorities say floods have affected 32 schools and disrupted learning for about 9,600 children.

County Education Director George Maliah Kutiek said some schools had been relocated to higher ground where displaced communities had settled.

"To address these challenges, we are advocating for support from humanitarian partners to help fill the gaps and ensure children can continue learning," Mr Kutiek said.

Education authorities say they are working with partners to minimise disruptions and ensure affected learners can continue their studies despite the ongoing flooding.
