โAddressing the reopening of the first session of the National legislature in Juba on Wednesday, President Kiir underscored the central role of lawmakers in shaping a peaceful and unified future for the country.

โHe encouraged parliamentarians to recommit themselves to the goals of peacebuilding and to work towards strengthening the foundations of a united and resilient South Sudan.

โExtending an olive branch, President Kiir invited opposition groups still outside the peace process to join the path of reconciliation and national unity.

โOn economic matters, President Kiir instructed the economic cluster to harmonise salary payments for civil servants and organised forces as part of efforts to restore essential public services.

โThe President reaffirmed his administrationโs commitment to fiscal discipline, transparent financial management, and the fight against corruption, describing these as non-negotiable pillars of economic recovery.

โThe reopening of the Revitalised National Transitional Legislature, he noted, signals renewed momentum in the countryโs peace and reform agenda ahead of the national post-independence elections scheduled for 2026.
