Our Country Is Not a Burden, It Is Our Responsibility
If going to another country and becoming part of it is the solution to our suffering, then what was the purpose of all the sacrifices made to free ourselves from Sudan?
South Sudan was born from the dreams, blood, tears, and sacrifices of people who believed that one day we could build a nation of our own. Today, when our country is struggling, the answer should not always be to abandon it. The answer should be to rebuild it.
Yes, our country is suffering. Yes, we have experienced conflict, poverty, division, and disappointment. But we must remember that many nations we admire today also went through painful periods. They suffered, struggled, rebuilt, and refused to give up on their homeland.
We cannot build a better South Sudan by running away from South Sudan.
Instead of asking, βWhich country can we join?β we should ask, βWhat can I do to make my country better?β
Instead of giving our future to another nation, let us invest our strength, education, ideas, and courage in our own.
Leaving for safety, education, or opportunity is understandable. But believing that abandoning our country is the only solution is a dangerous mindset.
South Sudan does not need people who give up on it. It needs people who believe in it enough to change it.
Our land.
Our responsibility.
Our future.
Let us not surrender the dream our ancestors sacrificed for. Let us rebuild the nation they dreamed of. πΈπΈβ€οΈ
