πŸ”΄ LEAKED β€” For Immediate Circulation

WHAT HAPPENED INSIDE J1 ON SUNDAY β€” AND WHY GARANGDIT LEFT TALKING TO HIMSELF

A meeting was convened Sunday evening at the presidential residence. What was supposed to be a quiet, controlled gathering turned into something that those present will not forget quickly.

On the Aweil side: the Chairman, his deputy Chairman, Garang Deng Aguer and Regina Nyanut. What Garangdit and his people did not anticipate β€” and did not prepare for β€” was the presence of Honorable Aldo Ajou, who they had not counted on being in that room. Also present were senior officials from the Office of the President, including the Executive Director, the Press Secretary, and the Private Secretary.

Also attending the meeting was the CDF, the Minister of Information and DG for Internal Security.

Kuol Athian opened with his grievances. They were, by most accounts in the room, largely inaudible β€” rambling, rehearsed, and unconvincing.

Then the Deputy stood up. Hon Steven Ajongo

He looked Garangdit directly in the eye and said: "We are here because of your excitement. If you had let the kids be kids on social media and brought this through the right channels, we would have gone much further."

Dr. Aldo followed with the same message. So did others in the room β€” one after another. The meeting Garangdit had expected to swing in his favour became a chorus of accountability directed straight at him.

What he was asking for was impossible. And those present said it read less like a legitimate grievance and more like a man protecting his own interests while performing victimhood. Can you even believe that he DID NOT ask for the release of Benjamin Bol Mel but asked for the release of Riek Machar??????

Then came the counterpunch.

Those present laid out, methodically, what Garangdit has been doing behind the scenes: his manoeuvres, his incitements, his blocking of others since the beginning. It was noted, plainly, that when Benjamin Bol was relevant, Garangdit was among those who worked hardest to close doors β€” confident that a certain era would never end. But it sadly did.

What did Ateny not say to Garangdit? He probably didn’t say goodbye!!

When the President spoke, he was measured but direct.

He told Garangdit to stop the incitement. He made clear that no one had moved to arrest him, and that this itself should be understood as grace, not weakness. He reminded him that the country has a functioning judicial system: the innocent walk free, the guilty serve their time. He was told to understand that.

The President then did something unexpected. He reminded Garangdit of what he had done for him personally β€” that when Garangdit was in prison, it was the President who sent his wife to him so that he could conceive his first child. A son, born on May 16th.

"We wish him a good, long, and healthy life," the President said. "And we will protect him for you."

The message after that was unambiguous: this is not a conflict between Aweil and Warrap. This is bored, idle people with nothing in their hands who want to manufacture division for fame or for richness. Anyone including Garangdit or otherwise who continues to fuel communal problems for personal gain will find that the patience currently extended to them has an expiry date.

Aldo Ajou and others closed by saying what mattered most: Bahr el Ghazal must unite. The community must stand behind the elections. It must stand behind the President of the Republic.

Garangdit left the meeting with his ego in pieces. He was seen outside walking to the wrong car, not once, not twice, but more than three times, talking to himself.

Those leaking this now do so because they know the presidential side will not dignify it with a public statement. They are counting on that silence.

But the room knows what happened. And now, so do you.

; Simon Dee and the Politics of Incitement from Afar

There is a particular kind of audacity that only distance makes possible.

Simon Dee, safely ensconced in the United Kingdom, has reportedly been urging Aweil youth to take up arms and organise sit-in protests to block what he describes as a rumoured arrest. The calls are passionate. The rhetoric is charged. And Simon Dee is thousands of miles away from any consequence.

This is the contradiction at the heart of diaspora incitement β€” the freedom to inflame from abroad while the young men and women being stirred bear every risk.

Let it be said plainly: if Simon Dee were to engage in the same conduct on British soil β€” calling on youth to arm themselves, organising demonstrations to obstruct lawful authority β€” he would not long enjoy the comfortable life he currently leads there. The UK's public order laws, counter-terrorism statutes, and immigration enforcement mechanisms are not gentle with such activity, particularly for those whose residency is not beyond question. The irony is not lost that the very legal and institutional framework of the country sheltering him would deal swiftly and firmly with the behaviour he preaches to others from its shores.

The youth of Aweil deserve better than to be used as instruments of a political agenda whose chief architect will not share their exposure. Courage, when genuine, does not issue instructions from a safe distance. Leadership, when legitimate, does not ask of others what it will not risk itself.

Those in Aweil β€” parents, elders, community leaders β€” would do well to ask a simple question before heeding any call to action: *where is the man making this call, and what is he risking?*

The answer, in this case, is instructive.

Simon Dee is in the UK. He is risking nothing.
