A DIVORCED SINGLE MOTHER WROTE

I am writing to you in order to make someone understand that it's good to appreciate our partners despite their flaws.

I am 42 years of age.

My ex husband and I dated for 9 years.

We where best of friends.

I waited until he completed college and started work.

My family and his family then met.

We got married and had a son. (27years old now).

My husband was short tempered at times but our problems started when I wanted to make him feel he couldn't control me.

Every time we argued, I would pack my bags, go to my family and explain.

My sisters would phone my husband and shout at him.

If he was controlling me I would always dare him that if he wished, he could divorce me.

I never wanted divorce.

I just had pride and I never wanted to look like a loose woman in his eyes.

One day I pushed him so hard that for the first time he beat me and locked me outside.

I went to my family, my family took him to the police, every time I looked like I was being abused!

But to be honest, I used to abuse my husband emotionally.

He was arrested and detained.

I was asked by his family to withdraw the case.

I felt that what I was doing was wrong.

My husband was never a violent man, he did what he did because I pushed him to the wall of which he openly knelt down and apologized.

I withdrew the charge, and we reconciled.

After three months, I packed my bags after a small issue and he remained alone.

After two days, I
received a call that he was in the hospital.

My family told me that I shouldn't go there because it would look like I was begging him and my sisters believed he was feigning the illness.

All this time, people felt sorry for me like I was the one being abused.

He spent a week in the hospital, after he came out, I just received a divorce summon.

I wanted to say no to divorce, but because I felt this pride, I wanted him to change his mind and beg me.

I called him and said he would get the divorce because I lived like I was

The biggest Civil war to ever occur in Africa.

Second Congo War 🇨🇩

The Second Congo War, also known as Africa's World War or the Great War of Africa, was a major conflict that began on 2 August 1998 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), just over a year after the First Congo War.

The war initially erupted when Congolese president Laurent-Désiré Kabila turned against his former allies from Rwanda and Uganda, who had helped him seize power.

Eventually, the conflict expanded, drawing in nine African nations and approximately 25 armed groups, making it one of the largest wars in African history.

Although a peace agreement was signed in 2002, and the war officially ended on 18 July 2003 with the establishment of the Transitional Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, violence has persisted in various regions, particularly in the east, through ongoing conflicts such as the Lord's Resistance Army insurgency and the Kivu and Ituri conflicts.

The Second Congo War and its aftermath caused an estimated 5.4 million deaths, primarily due to disease and malnutrition, making it the deadliest conflict since World War II, according to a 2008 report by the International Rescue Committee.

However, this figure has been disputed, with some researchers arguing that many of the deaths may have occurred regardless of the war and that the actual death toll was closer to 3 million.

The conflict also displaced approximately 2 million people, forcing them to flee their homes or seek asylum in neighboring countries.

Additionally, the war was heavily funded by the trade of conflict minerals, which continues to fuel violence in the region.

The ancient egyptians portrayed themselves and their neighbors with remarkable details and artistry.

The first image depicts a Kush*te. As you can observe, Nilotic populations share a similar hairstyle tradition.

In the middle, we see a Middle Eastern Arab, characterized by a full and well-groomed beard.

The third image represents the Kemetyu (Egyptian). The twisted hairstyle, as shown in both the first and third images, continues to be a cultural practice among populations of the Nile Valley.

25/12/2024

The Zanj Rebellion (869–883 CE) was a major uprising against the Abbasid Caliphate, led primarily by African slaves and laborers known as the Zanj, who worked under harsh conditions in southern Iraq. This revolt is one of the most significant slave revolts in history, both in scale and duration. Below is an overview of the rebellion:

Historical Context

The Zanj People: The Zanj were primarily East African people brought to the Abbasid Caliphate as slaves to work in salt marshes near Basra (in present-day Iraq). They were tasked with draining marshlands to make them suitable for agriculture, an extremely grueling and dehumanizing labor.

Conditions: The slaves faced harsh working conditions, poor living standards, and cruel treatment, which created widespread discontent.

The Rebellion

Leadership: The rebellion was led by Ali ibn Muhammad, a charismatic figure who claimed descent from the Prophet Muhammad. He promised freedom and better living conditions for the enslaved people.

Outbreak: The revolt began in 869 CE near Basra. It quickly gained momentum as thousands of enslaved people joined the cause, along with other disaffected groups.

Strategy: The Zanj forces captured key cities and established a stronghold. They used guerrilla tactics and maintained a disciplined army, which enabled them to challenge the powerful Abbasid forces.

State Formation: The rebels formed a quasi-state, building a capital called al-Mukhtara ("The Chosen") and issuing their own currency.

Impact

Military Campaigns: The rebellion disrupted trade, agriculture, and the economy in the region. The Abbasids launched several military campaigns to suppress the revolt but faced significant resistance for over a decade.

Defeat: The Abbasids eventually defeated the rebels in 883 CE, after deploying a well-organized army led by al-Muwaffaq, the brother of the reigning caliph. Al-Mukhtara was destroyed, and Ali ibn Muhammad was killed.

Did you know that Central Park is an artificial park? 😲

With the growing population in Manhattan, it was decided to build a park that would serve as the city's green lung. In 1857, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux won a public competition to design what we now know as Central Park.

Although its construction faced some challenges, they later worked on Prospect Park, where it’s said they managed to overcome the issues encountered in the previous project.

Mistakes or not, Central Park has become one of the most iconic parks in the world.
