Names of travelers on the bus that got ambushed today on Juba-Nimule Highway unveiled

The names of passengers on the Babeto Bus, SSD 089Z, which was ambushed early Tuesday morning on the Juba-Nimule highway, have been revealed. The attack, which took place at Lakarakak between Nyerjebe and Kubi, resulted in several fatalities and numerous injuries as the bus was set ablaze by the assailants. The incident occurred on Sept. 24, 2024.

The bus was en route from Juba to Kampala, carrying 36 passengers. Several passengers fled into nearby bushes for safety, while others were caught in the violent attack. Authorities are still working to confirm the exact number of those killed or injured.

Local security forces are actively investigating the ambush, which highlights the ongoing insecurity along the vital highway connecting South Sudan’s capital with Uganda. Rescue efforts are underway, but the government has yet to release an official statement.

BREAKING NEWS: Nearly half of the 45,000 candidates, about 17,600 student, failed the South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education examination as the education ministry released the 2023/2024 results.

Only a total of 17 students scored an A plain - 11 males and 6 females, while 771 candidates scored an A-, 513 males and 258 females.

Overall, 26,440 (16,633 males, 9,807 females) attained a minimum grade of C plain to qualify for university admission.
