For eight years (𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟳–𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲), the people of Maiwut County have consistently stood with the SPLM-IG under the leadership of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit. We have remained patient, anticipating that the party leadership would recognize and reward the decisive, voluntary choice made by the Maiwut community to stand firmly with the National Government.

Today, as proud supporters who account for 𝟵𝟴.𝟴% of Maiwut County's political alignment, we formally urge the SPLM leadership to address the political underrepresentation of our County.

🔺 𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐂 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐗𝐓 & 𝐋𝐎𝐘𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐘

In 2017, 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗠𝗮𝗷. 𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗹 𝗥𝘂𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗥𝗼𝗺, was appointed Governor of the former Maiwut State stationed in Pagak Hqs near Ethiopia Border. Through strategic leadership, his administration working alongside local forces including 𝗠𝗮𝗷. 𝗚𝗲𝗻. 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝘂𝗼𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝗼𝗽, and the WADU Protection Force dismantled the opposition presence across Eastern Jikany. This local move paved the way for the historic August 2019 declaration, where Maiwut County SPLM I.O led by Maj. Gen. Ochan officially declare officially aligned with the government after the defeated Dr. Riek I.O faction with support from Pagak. Unlike other Counties in Eastern Jikany, Maiwut joined the SPLM-IG by choice, demonstrating unwavering loyalty to the national vision.

🔺 𝐀𝐃𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐆𝐀𝐏

Within the four counties of Eastern Jikany (Maiwut, Longechuk, Nasir, and Ulang), Maiwut County stands out as the stronghold of the SPLM. Yet, it remains severely underrepresented in executive national appointments:

👉 Political Imbalance: While neighboring counties with significant opposition (SPLM I.O) presence hold major national and state appointments—such as ministerial portfolios and commission commissioners in Central Government (RSS) Maiwut County has been left without a national executive allocation for SPLM supporters while it is the Solely County supporting MIGHTY PARTY compare to other three counties.

👉Clarification on Current Representation: While Hon. Changkuoth Bichiok Reth serves as Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, his appointment falls under the Federal Democratic Party (FDP) quota, representing part of the remaining 𝟮.𝟮% non-SPLM affiliation. The vast majority of Maiwut’s population, who are committed SPLM members, remain without direct representation in the central government. WHY?

🔺 𝐎𝐔𝐑S 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓

As South Sudan prepares for the December 2026 general elections, the grassroots support of 𝟵𝟴.𝟮% Maiwut County will contribute to the vital securing victory for the SPLM across the Country. To honor the community's allegiance and strengthen party unity, the Maiwut County community presents this formal call:

1.We urge the SPLM Secretariat and national leadership to consider Hon. Maj. Gen. Bol Ruach Rom for a high-level government appointment, such as a Ministerial Portfolio in the National Cabinet or a State Governorship (Executive Appointment)
2.This request represents the collective, uninfluenced voice of the citizens of Maiwut County. Hon. Bol Ruach Rom possesses the full trust, confidence, and mandate of our community to represent our interests in the national government.

We trust that the party leadership will hear this legitimate call from its most dedicated supporters and act swiftly to ensure fair political participation for Maiwut County.

Dear all,

Gen. James Koang Chuol Ranley, Governor of Upper Nile State had officially swored in newly appointed State government officials: Advisors, Ministers, Chairpersons of Independent Commissions, local governments' County Commissioners.

Upper Nile State started to thrive peace, stability and peaceful coexistence among five tribes after reappointment of Gen. CDR; serious instability under previous administrations cease to exist.

The era of peace has begun flowering roots as old corrupt systems uprooted by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit.

Once the system is fully established by formation of this formidable governments' structures, the rule of laws shall be applied to govern the system and development follow's suits while arranging for peaceful, free, pair and credible election in 2026.

As congratulatory messages poured on new leadership under stewarship of Gen. CDR, its must also be accorded with key messages to work on;

Improving security is the primary responsibility of any workable government, its therefore a mandatory that should not be recommended to a responsible government by a responsible citizen.

However, among other vital projects that Upper Nile State government to prioritise includes but not limited to the followings:

First, The new leadership of Upper Nile State should combine forces with national Ministry of Roads and Bridges to accelerate roads connectivity along the productive counties such that resources are mobilized for government projects.

In addition, roads connectivity to bordering Ethiopia and Sudan in order to excel movements of local goods and services with intention of reaching international markets that can improve the Balance of Payment (BOP) of financial Institutions, specially monetary policies.

Secondly, the state government should work harder to reach services to rural population which hosts traditional communal forces that are always instigated to fight their own government.

Once services reaches them, every citizen in rural areas including remnants of white army, Abu shook, Aguelek and Mabaan People's Defense Forces will find something to do to change life instead of living a hostile life that initiates illegal killings of innocent lives.

Thirdly, Opening up Sobat and Nile corridors - lifeline for free movement of goods and services from neighbouring countries to reduce this sky rocketing market shock South Sudan is facing.

Fourthly, Priorize return, ressettlement and reintegrations programs of IDPs and refugees such that conducive environment enables them ressettle as prerequisite to register for upcoming national exercises such as pre/post election programs.

Once again, congratulations State officials for assuming your roles and responsibilities at various capacities.

"If there are divisive elements among you, they must be monitored closely in order not to shift focus, and if need be, must be eliminated before the last rounds to national exercises", I lamented.

My advice to social media negative campaigners against the leadership of His Excellency James Koang Chuol Ranley, Governor of Upper Nile State on unfounded allegations of corruptions; swallow stolen bones in silent before accountability knocks on to your doors. Upper Nile State belongs to all of us and there is nowhere we will allows instigation of violence and tribal hatred re-surface as was the rule of the fast as a tool of looting state resources.

We must collectively work to support current leadership in order to built a promising Upper Nile State. We want to see Upper Nile State number one in upcoming programes next years including schools, sport competition, economy, security and soforth.
