The Minister of Finance and Planning, Salvatore Garang Mabiordit, has acknowledged that powerful individuals are controlling the country’s national budget, hindering fair distribution of public resources, He said this while Speaking during the second reading of the budget on Wednesday, March 4, 2025, Garang described the system as one where funds are placed “in one basket” and taken over by influential figures.

“The problem is, the budget is put in one basket, and some strong people get the whole basket and spend it,” he said.

He added that the ministry has limited authority over certain expenditures, citing fear of repercussions, raising fresh concerns about transparency and financial management in South Sudan.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has ordered the Ministry of General Education and Instruction to proceed with the official announcement of the 2025 South Sudan Primary Education Certificate (P8) examination results next week.

‎The President indicated that the timely release of the results will facilitate a smooth transition for successful candidates into secondary school during the ongoing first academic term, ensuring continuity in the academic calendar and minimizing disruption to learners across the country.

‎The directive follows a presentation of the national results by The Minister of General Education and Instructions Dr. Kuyok Abol Kuyok and his technical team at the Presidency on Friday.
‎
‎After receiving the report, President Salva Kiir Mayardit congratulated candidates who successfully passed the examinations, commending their resilience in the face of the challenges confronting the country’s educational sector.
‎
‎ A total of 84,506 pupils sat for the examinations. Of these, 45,427 were male candidates and 39,079 were female. According to Minister Kuyok, 96.4 percent of the candidates successfully passed the examinations.
‎
‎South Sudan is committed to universal primary education and underscores the importance of ensuring that every child has access to learning opportunities. The President encouraged the Ministry to sustain efforts so that no learner is left behind.

The Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, H.E. Lt. Gen Charles Madut Akol, has issued Gubernatorial Decrees 𝐍𝐨. 𝟏/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐍𝐨 𝟐/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐍𝐨 𝟑/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐨. 𝟒/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 effecting some changes in the State Government as hereunder;

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬:

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Republican Decree 𝐍𝐨 𝟒𝟒𝟑/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 read together with article 99 (2) (a) of the Transitional Constitution of Northern Bhar El Ghazal State, 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟐 as amended. 𝐈, 𝐋𝐭. 𝐆𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐭 𝐀𝐤𝐨𝐥, Governor of Northern Bhar El Ghazal State, do hereby issue these Gubernatorial Decrees for the Relieve and Appointments of the following State Government officials in the Government of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
