South Sudan Army to Launch First-Ever Football Competition.

The Military Sports Football Federation of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) has announced plans to host its first-ever military football tournament at Juba National Stadium.

According to the announcement, participation will be limited to teams and units within the SSPDF.

The federation noted that the main objective of the tournament is to promote unity, brotherhood, and sportsmanship among members of the armed forces.

Details regarding the official opening ceremony and championship schedule are expected to be communicated at a later date.

Seven young traders Attacked and Robbed in Bor Town.

At least seven young men are nursing injuries after being attacked and robbed in Bor town over the weekend.

The victims, said to be traders from the Bahr el Ghazal region, were reportedly assaulted in their rented houses by suspected gang members.

No suspects have been arrested so far, and the motive behind targeting the traders remains unclear.

Meanwhile, the Bor Community Youth Association (BCYA) has issued a press statement condemning the attack and urging the government to take immediate action to address the matter.

Village Residents capitalize on damaged road Along Wau–Tonj Highway.

Some Residents along the Wau–Tonj Highway have reportedly turned a damaged section of the road cut off by water into a source of income.

According to eyewitnesses, villagers are charging motorcyclists to help carry their bikes across the impassable stretch.

One motorcyclist told the revealed that the fee is 8,000 SSP per motorcycle to be transported to the other side of the cut-off road.

The road damage has left travelers stranded and sparked growing concerns over the lack of immediate intervention to restore accessibility.

Warrap Governor bans fattening competition following 2 deaths

The Governor of Warrap State, Amb. Bol Wek Agoth has banned fattening competitions in all communities after two fat men died of stomach burst in Kuac Ayok community of Gogrial West.

In this tradition, young men drink large amounts of milk and avoid solid food to gain weight. The one who gains the most is declared the winner.

Officials said the ban is to protect lives while the government reviews safety risks.

Civil leaders are calling for urgent action to prevent more deaths.

Luol Deng Presents Bright Starlets’ Bronze Medal to President Salva Kiir.

South Sudan’s Basketball Federation President, Luol Deng, presented the bronze medal won by the national women’s basketball team, the Bright Starlets to His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday.

The medal marks a historic achievement following the team’s outstanding performance in their debut appearance at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Tournament.

In addition to securing third place, the Bright Starlets have also qualified for the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifiers a major milestone in South Sudan’s basketball journey.
