Message from Brig. General Thor Gang Lual to Murle Community
Our Murle brothers and sisters,
Think twice. If you believe this struggle is not yours, yet you continue killing Nuer and other South Sudanese while aligning yourselves with a tribalized and self-serving government, know this clearly: the consequences will come later, and regret will follow. History never spares those who choose violence against innocent people for short-term political gain.
The Government of Akobo, under the leadership of Hon. Commissioner James Kueth, in collaboration with the army and security organs stationed in Akobo, has consistently demonstrated a commitment to peace, cooperation, and coexistence between Pibor and Greater Akobo.
This commitment was clearly shown when more than 100 Murle youth who escaped from Nasir military base were safely facilitated and transported back to their homes. That action was not political, it was humanitarian. It was an act of brotherhood, responsibility, and respect for human life.
It is therefore painful and disappointing to see such kindness forgotten, and to witness attempts to turn against those who stood with you in your time of need. Turning against peace will not bring security. Turning against those who protected your sons will not bring dignity.
Let us cooperate. Let us live in peace. Let us join hands as communities that share land, history, and a future. Our real enemy is not one another, but a selfish and bloody system that survives by dividing communities and sacrificing innocent lives for personal benefit.
The blood of Nuer, Murle, or any South Sudanese will never build a nation. Only unity, mutual respect, and cooperation will secure our future.
Choose wisdom over violence. Choose peace over regret. The future will judge us all by the choices we make today.
Brig. General Thor Gang Lual
