article we publish has to meet our editorial guidelines. We have contributors from all over the country, including academics and eminent professionals, journalists and students. Our audience is global and Google tells us that it comes from more than 30 countries or territories.

2: What do we do? Our focus is on issues that really matter to South Sudan, be it environmental challenges or scientific innovations, economic trends or political developments, humanitarian crises or social movements. We publish a unique “360°” analysis that delves deep into an issue. It places the topic in context and then elicits many views on it. Our premise is that everyone has a bias and all of us have blindsides, but when we come together, we have a better approximation of the truth. Our mission is to inform and to educate. Therefore, we produce in-depth reports, publications and videos on various issues. Our reports and publications are meant for the public and are of particular use to policy analysts, business professionals and students. We send our editors to organise discussions and give lectures in schools, colleges and universities around South Sudan.

Two Young Men Beaten After Stealing Peanut Paste in Haitarawa

Two young men were severely beaten by local youths in Haitarawa on Thursday morning after they were caught stealing a small bucket of peanut paste from an elderly woman’s stall.

Witnesses say the thieves were quickly surrounded and attacked by angry residents who were outraged that the young men had targeted an old woman believed to be in her 60s. The woman, visibly upset, shouted at the suspects in public, asking why they would steal from someone who is struggling to make a living.

The stolen peanut paste was reportedly worth SSP 10,000. Although the value was not high, the incident sparked strong emotions among locals. A good Samaritan eventually stepped in to stop the beating, and the suspects were released.

Food Cuts Hit Kakuma Refugee Camp

Nearly 300,000 refugees in Kakuma Refugee Camp are facing major food cuts, the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) has announced. Many of those affected are South Sudanese. The new food plan for August 2025 shows that some people will get as little as 95 grams of cereal per day. In total, some refugees will receive only 135 to 258 grams of food each day.

These cuts are happening because aid groups, including UNHCR, have less money to help. A freeze in funding that started during Donald Trump’s time as U.S. president has made it harder to support refugee camps like Kakuma. As a result, there is not enough food for everyone.

The food cuts are expected to make life even harder for people in the camp, who depend fully on aid to survive. Refugee supporters say the reduced food will lead to more hunger and suffering. They are calling for urgent help to stop the crisis from getting worse.

UAP to Leave South Sudan After Years of Operation

UAP, a well-known insurance company from Kenya, has announced it will stop doing business in South Sudan. The company has been operating there since 2006, shortly after the country signed a peace deal. UAP was the first big insurance provider in South Sudan and played an important role in the country’s early development.

One of UAP’s major achievements was building the UAP Equatoria Tower in Juba, which it owns together with the Central Equatoria state government. This tower is the tallest building in South Sudan and became a symbol of growth and investment during more stable times.

However, UAP has faced serious financial problems in recent years. The country’s economy has continued to struggle, and this has caused the company to lose money. Because of this, UAP has decided to leave the South Sudan market, although it will continue operating in other countries across East Africa.

South Sudan Rugby Team Seeks Support to Grow the Sport

A group of South Sudanese rugby players has started a team called the Juba Eagles Rugby Club to help grow the sport in the country. The players, who returned home in 2022, say their dream is to create a national rugby team and represent South Sudan in international competitions. Team captain Maivy Andrew says they want to give young people hope and new chances through rugby.

The Juba Eagles have already taken part in two tournaments in Uganda. In their latest competition, the Gorilla 7s in Kabale, they finished 5th out of 12 teams and beat Rwanda’s top side, the Lions Fer. Maivy says the team is proud of how far they’ve come and believes this is just the beginning.

Now, the Juba Eagles are asking for support from the public, sports organizations, and the media. They want more people in South Sudan to know about rugby and help the team reach their goal of playing for the country one day. “We are committed to making rugby grow in South Sudan,” said Maivy.
