President Kiir reconstitutes peace implementation committee with 31 appointees

President Salva Kiir has reconstituted the High-Level Ad Hoc Committee on the Implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS), appointing 31 members from various political parties and stakeholders.

It remains unclear whether this new committee will replace the National Transitional Committee (NTC), which has been overseeing the same peace implementation process.

Below is the list of appointed members:

The committee’s mandate includes:

1. Oversight of Peace Deal Implementation: Ensure the effective implementation of all chapters of the R-ARCSS except Chapter Two (transitional security arrangements).

2. Coordination for Elections: Work closely with the Electoral Commission, RJMEC, and political parties to address disagreements and ensure timely elections by December 2026.

3. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with parties to the agreement, including regional and international partners and governments.

4. Resource Mobilization: Collaborate with the Ministry of Finance and international partners to secure funding for implementation activities.

5. Other Assigned Tasks: Carry out any other responsibilities assigned by the Presidency.

𝐉𝐮𝐛𝐚, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed the newly appointed Minister of Health, Sarah Cleto Rial, to address the key underlying challenges confronting the country’s health sector, emphasizing the need for change and improved service delivery.
The President issued the directive during the official swearing-in of Minister Sarah on Wednesday, describing her appointment as well-deserved. He encouraged the Minister to implement reforms in the health sector, while appealing to all South Sudanese to denounce division and work towards building a united and peaceful nation.
Interim SPLM-IO Chairman Stephen Par Kuol, who was present at the ceremony, described the Ministry of Health as a place of life and death, stressing that it requires effective leadership and full commitment. He praised the President for appointing Minister Sarah, noting that her appointment comes at a crucial time as the nation intensifies efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
Minister Sarah expressed her gratitude to the President for entrusting her with the responsibility and vowed to serve diligently to realize the aspirations of the people. She also pledged to ensure transparency and accountability in her work, promising results-based performance in service to the nation.

Officials say the appointment of Minister Sarah marks a new chapter in the country’s ongoing journey toward strengthening its health system and ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to all citizens.
