BREAKING NEWS: Over 5,000 Nuba Mountain Students Arrive in Ruweng for National Exams

More than five thousand students from Sudan’s Nuba Mountain region have arrived in Parieng, Ruweng Administrative Area, ahead of Monday’s Primary Leaving Examinations and the upcoming December secondary school exams.

According to Ruweng authorities, learners from the conflict-affected region have been sitting for South Sudan’s national examinations since the outbreak of war between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Officials say the continued inflow of students highlights the severe disruption of education caused by the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

# # # Governor Lobong Calls for Calm and Cooperation After Deadly Torit Raids

**Torit, Eastern Equatoria State – 23 November 2025**

Governor Louis Lobong Lojore has appealed to residents of Eastern Equatoria State to remain calm and fully cooperate with security forces as the government intensifies efforts to restore stability following the November 18 raids in Torit that claimed several innocent lives.

Speaking Sunday morning at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish in Torit, Governor Lobong blamed the attacks on a growing culture of silence and protection of criminals by some community members.

“Some people are hiding criminals in their homes and failing to report suspicious movements. This must stop. Security is a shared responsibility,” he told hundreds of worshippers.

The governor expressed deep frustration with elements within the SPLM-IO, saying he has repeatedly urged their leadership not to transfer conflicts from other states into Eastern Equatoria.

“I have spoken to them many times, but my appeals have not been respected. We will not allow anyone to spoil the peace of this state,” he said.

He assured the public that government forces are actively pursuing the attackers and will not rest until peace spoilers are neutralized.

# # # # Hai-Mairo Security Concerns

Governor Lobong also addressed ongoing insecurity in Torit’s Hai-Mairo neighbourhood, revealing that the area is built on land belonging to the Catholic Church.

He called on church authorities to collaborate with Torit Municipal Council to immediately open blocked access roads, saying the measure would improve drainage, ease movement, strengthen security patrols, and allow faster emergency response.

“Some families are still harbouring criminalsis is why insecurity keeps returning to Torit,” he warned.

Plane Landed at Akhon International Airport for the First Time, Befuddles the Locals

Wednesday 19th, November 2025 (Akhon) – 5Y‐VAN Caravan Plane transporting co**se from Juba to Akhon Town just landed at Akhon International Airport (AIA), pilot says navigation reads.

The caravan taking the body of Gen. Alfeo Akot Akot Manyuol aka Akot Mamur, had mistakenly landed at the projected and paused International Airport, which had never been functioning or launched ever since. The pilot is new to the geographical area and claims that his GPS reads Akon International Airport. His wings were adhering to a new location, mistakenly.

Having landed safely, the whole village is amazed and populated, the just‐in story.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday administered the oath of office to Dr. James Wani Igga as the SPLM First Deputy Chairman and Dr. Akol Paul Kordit as the party’s new Secretary General, urging the revamped leadership to consolidate unity and intensify engagement with citizens at the grassroots level.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony in Juba, President Kiir called on SPLM members to reinvigorate the party’s structures, ensure fair and equitable service delivery, and mobilize support as the country moves toward the 2026 general elections.

He emphasized that the new leadership bears the responsibility of strengthening internal cohesion and restoring public confidence in the party’s vision.

Senior SPLM officials who attended the event said the appointments signal a renewed commitment to broadening inclusivity, energizing the party’s base, and maintaining SPLM’s central role in shaping South Sudan’s political and democratic trajectory.
