Ethiopian Prime Minist Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali has been tasked by the African Union (AU), Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), East African Community (EAC), Troika, European Union (EU), and the International Community to travel to Juba. His mission is to facilitate negotiations between President Salva Kiir Mayardit and First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar.

Dr. Abiy Ahmed has accepted this responsibility and may travel to Juba today, tomorrow, or at any time soon to negotiate the release of Dr. Riek Machar and his colleagues. He aims to either bring them to Addis Ababa or renew and implement the 2018 peace agreement in a timely manner.

BREAKING NEWS


In a significant escalation of the ongoing conflict, the South Sudan People's Defense Forces (SSPDF) and the Uganda People's Defense Force (UPDF) have launched a new aggressive offensive against the White Army positions of Ulang and Nasir Counties.

The aggressive coordinated attack by the enemy was swiftly repulsed back from Lony Deng-Yuel to Gelachel.

In a notable development, our dedicated White Army forces successfully captured one Armor Personnel Carrier (APA) locally known as Uliet, and one 12.7MM both in good condition. The situation remains dynamic, with the White Army forces overrun the SSPDF with its allies militias of AbuShok and Agwelek along with their UPDF mercenaries from Lony Deng Yuel and Gelachel with the White Army persuading the enemy forces from those mentioned areas toward Gelkow.

This offensive marks a critical moment. Stay tuned for more updates as the situation unfolds.

IN PICTURES: African Union Panel of the Wise arrives in Juba to support peace efforts.

The African Union panel of the wise led by form Kenyan Judge, Effie Owuor has arrived in Juba this afternoon and headed straight to meet President Salva Kiir.

The Panel which includes former Burundian President, Domitien Ndayizeye is dispatch by AU on a four-day official mission to de-escalate political tension in South Sudan.

AU is concerned that political crisis that started following Nasir clashes between SSPDF and White Army risked pushing the Country into a full-blown conflict, threatening the 2018 peace agreement as key opposition members including First Vice President Dr.Riek Machar are detained.
