Joseph Kuot Anau Officially Declares Candidacy for Apuk Graduates’ Congress Chairmanship

Mr. Joseph Kuot Anau has officially declared his candidacy for Chairperson of the Apuk Graduates’ Congress (AGC). He has pledged to unite graduates from the Apuk Giir community of Gogrial East County, Warrap State, and to strengthen the organization.

According to Kuot, his vision is to transform AGC into an institution that creates opportunities and delivers meaningful impact for the community.

He called on members to support his bid, promising to serve with dedication under the campaign slogan: “Ready to Serve, Committed to Deliver.”

Kuot is expected to present his full manifesto to members on a date to be announced in due course.

Abraham Seeisy Jop, whose condition at Juba Teaching Hospital attracted public attention, has undergone a successful leg amputation and is now recovering under medical care.

SSBC journalist Mathiang Joseph has called for a better public understanding of the role of a Presidential Private Secretary, saying the position is often misunderstood because it works closely with the Head of State.

He explained that the office is designed to support the President through administrative coordination, communication, management of official schedules, handling documents, preparing briefs, and ensuring that presidential directives are communicated through the proper channels.

Mathiang emphasized that the Private Secretary does not have the authority to make national decisions or exercise presidential powers, as executive authority remains with the President and institutions established by the Constitution. He noted that the visibility and proximity of the office can sometimes create false impressions about its influence.

He further urged the public and media to approach issues involving the office with fairness, relying on evidence and due process rather than assumptions or political narratives.

According to him, accountability and transparency are strengthened when discussions are based on facts, verified information, and respect for legal procedures.

BREAKING: Warrap State Assembly Speaker survives impeachment attempt

The Speaker of the Warrap State Reconstituted Transitional Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Anei Arop Agany, survived an impeachment attempt after a motion seeking his removal, along with the Deputy Speaker, failed.

Following the failed motion, Speaker Anei adjourned the Assembly sitting until 25 September 2026, saying the closure would allow lawmakers to return to their farms and continue their activities.

The impeachment motion, reportedly supported by 77 members, accused the Speaker and his deputy of issues including alleged misuse of public funds and conduct against the responsibilities of their offices. However, Speaker Anei rejected the allegations and argued that the legal basis used for the motion was not applicable.

He said the motion failed due to issues including lack of quorum, failure to reach the required two-thirds majority, absence of the legal advisor, and disputed signatures on the petition.

Speaker Anei Arop Agany became Speaker in 2025, replacing former Speaker Kuaac Deng Mayar.

RRC Orders NGOs to Stay Out of Politics

South Sudan's Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) has directed all NGOs and associations registered under the NGOs Act 2016 to refrain from political activities and focus on their humanitarian mandates.

In Circular 06/2026, Chief Registrar of NGOs Wol Dhieu Akujang warned that organizations engaging in politics risk having their registration certificates revoked and their annual renewals rejected.

The RRC said the directive is intended to ensure that registered organizations adhere to the principles of voluntary and humanitarian work and continue serving communities across the country.
