The Governor of Upper Nile State, H.E. Jacob Dollar Ruot, has directed the release of more than ten inmates, including three women, from Malakal Main Prison, in a gesture of mercy and justice.

The move reflects the governor’s commitment to humanitarian values, reconciliation, and the promotion of fairness within the justice system of the state.

JUST IN: 🔹Uganda Election Day Overshadowed by Internet Shutdown and Arrests

Uganda’s election day was marked by major disruptions, including a nationwide internet shutdown, reports of ballot stuffing, and the arrest of opposition figures, according to opposition leaders and election observers.
The National Unity Platform (NUP), led by opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, said several of its senior officials , including the party’s Deputy President for the Western Region were arrested during the voting process.

The party also reported that many of its polling agents and supervisors were abducted or forced out of polling stations across the country. In addition, biometric voter verification kits (BVVKs) reportedly malfunctioned in multiple locations, raising concerns about voter verification and the credibility of the process.

Mr Kyagulanyi urged Ugandans to reject what he described as an illegitimate electoral process and called on the international community not to recognize the outcome of the vote.

Ugandan authorities have not yet issued a detailed response to the allegations.

‎MOROBO, JULY 31st - Gunmen have launched a deadly attack, assassinating an engineer and his driver, before setting their vehicle ablaze in 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐨 County of Central Equatoria State, South Sudan, The Borderlines has learned.

‎The engineer and his driver were contracted by Don Bosco and were traveling to 𝐊𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐤𝐨 District, Uganda, when they were attacked at four miles, on Kaya Highway, between Morobo and Bazi this morning of Thursday 31st July.
