Juba, South Sudan | 15 July 2026 – In a heartfelt public appeal, Amb. Garang Deng Aguer, a prominent leader from the Aweil community and the Founder/General Overseer of the Ministry of Reconciliation in Juba, South Sudan, is urging the people of Greater Tonj to come together in the spirit of peace, reconciliation, forgiveness, and unity as they navigate the ongoing challenges facing their communities.
Amb. Garang's message is clear: he calls on all citizens of Greater Tonj to turn away from violence, hatred, revenge, and division. He emphasizes that true and lasting peace is vital for the stability, development, and prosperity of both the region and the nation as a whole.
Drawing from the wisdom of the Holy Bible, he highlighted the reconciliation between Jacob and Esau (Genesis 33:1–11), Joseph's forgiveness of his brothers (Genesis 45:1–15), and the teachings of Christ in Matthew 5:9: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” He encourages communities to take these biblical lessons to heart, choosing forgiveness and peaceful coexistence over conflict.
Amb. Garang also reached out to elders, youth, women, church leaders, traditional authorities, and community leaders, urging them to protect human life, foster dialogue, and strengthen unity throughout Greater Tonj.
