Magwi communities urged to return home
by Gibson Ulaba
Eastern Equatoria State Governor Louis Lobong Lojore calls on Magwi communities to leave refugee camps and return home and occupy the vacated land.
Nearly all Madi and Acholi communities' land has been abandoned following the 2016 country crisis and further exacerbated by the presence of the cattle in the area.
The state governor renewed his appeal while speaking to hundreds of Catholic worshippers at Loa parish on Friday, following the ordination ceremony of seven individuals—four ordained as deacons and three as priests.
Governor Lojore urged the Acholi and Madi communities to return to their ancestral homeland, emphasizing that their presence would help prevent the illegal occupation of abandoned land and property.
He also praised the beauty of Magwi land during his address at the graduation ceremony of Magwi College of Agribusiness and Management Science.
Governor Lojore encouraged Magwi communities to populate the area along the Nimule highway, which connects Eastern Equatoria to the Central Equatoria border, and to engage in agricultural activities rather than allowing their land to fall into the hands of illegal occupants.
The head of the state advised the Acholi and Madi people to reclaim their own land, warning that prolonged absence would result in others seizing it. He specifically called on their people living in Uganda to return home.
Lobong also highlighted their good fortune in having the first tarmac road pass through their territory, further urging them to utilize it for agribusiness

He emphasized that when the two institutions work together, service delivery becomes more effective. The Nuncio also expressed admiration for the mountainous landscape of Eastern Equatoria and affirmed his commitment to visiting communities across the State to be close to the faithful.

His Lordship, Bishop Emmanuel Lowi of the Catholic Diocese of Torit, reintroduced the Apostolic Nuncio to church leadership and revealed that the Nuncio had promised to tour Eastern Equatoria to affirm the presence of the Catholic flock in all corners of the Sta
