DAILY SCRIPTURE REFLECTION
FROM CONFUSION TO HOPE
Scripture: Luke 24:13–35
MAIN POINTS:
1– CONFUSION IS PART OF OUR JOURNEY
2–JESUS IS WITH US EVEN WHEN WE DON’T SEE HIM
3– JESUS BRINGS UNDERSTANDING AND HOPE THROUGH HIS WORD
4– JESUS TURNS OUR CONFUSION INTO HOPE AND PURPOSE
In life, many people go through confusion. Things do not go as planned. Prayers seem unanswered. In South Sudan today, many are struggling with hardship, loss, and uncertainty about tomorrow. Just like the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, people can feel disappointed and lose hope. But this story teaches us something powerful: Jesus meets us in our confusion and leads us to hope. No matter how difficult life is, God is still working, and He is walking with us.
1– CONFUSION IS PART OF OUR JOURNEY
The two disciples were walking away from Jerusalem. They were sad and confused because Jesus had died. They had hoped He would save them, but things did not happen the way they expected.Today, many people feel the same. You may be asking, “Why is this happening to me?” Life can be confusing when things go wrong. But this story reminds us this morning that confusion is not the end. Even in confusion, God is still in control, and your situation can change.
2–JESUS IS WITH US EVEN WHEN WE DON’T SEE HIM
As the disciples were walking, Jesus came and walked with them, but they did not recognize Him. They thought they were alone, but they were not.In the same way, many times we feel like God is far away, especially during hard times. But the truth is, Jesus is always near. In your struggles, in your pain, in your confusion—He is there. You may not see Him, but He has not left you.
3– JESUS BRINGS UNDERSTANDING AND HOPE THROUGH HIS WORD
Jesus began to explain the Scriptures to the disciples. As He spoke, their hearts started to feel different—they later said their hearts were “burning.” This shows us that God’s Word brings light into confusion. When we listen to God and read His Word, we begin to understand better. Hope starts to grow inside us. Even when life is hard, God speaks to us and reminds us that He has a plan and a purpose for our lives.
4– JESUS TURNS OUR CONFUSION INTO HOPE AND PURPOSE
When the disciples finally recognized Jesus, everything changed. Their sadness turned into joy. They got up immediately and went back to Jerusalem to share the good news. This is what Jesus does—He changes our lives. He takes our confusion and gives us hope. He gives us a new reason to live and a message to share. God is calling us the people of south Sudan to carry hope to others, to encourage people, and to be a light in our churches, families, communities, nation in difficult times,
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, The journey from Emmaus shows us that confusion does not last forever. Jesus walks with us, speaks to us, and changes our hearts. He takes us from confusion to hope.No matter what you are going through right now, do not give up. Jesus is near. Your story is not finished. What looks confusing now, God can turn into something good.Move from confusion to hope—because Jesus is with you.
Heavenly Father,Thank You for reminding us this morning that even in our confusion, You are with us. Lord, many of us are going through difficult times, and we do not understand what is happening. But today, we choose to trust You.Open our eyes to see Your presence. Speak to us through Your Word and fill our hearts with hope again. Turn our confusion into clarity and our pain into joy.Help us to be people who carry hope to others in our families, communities, and in South Sudan. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray,
Amen.
