BREAKING NEWS: South Sudan's President Salva Kiir has removed Vice-President Benjamin Bol Mel from his position. Bol Mel, who also held the role of first deputy chairman of the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), has been dismissed from the National Security Service, as reported by state television on Wednesday night.

This announcement followed the unexplained withdrawal of security personnel from Bol Mel’s home and office in Juba, amidst reports of increasing political tensions within the SPLM.

The decree, broadcasted on state TV, stated that Kiir had dismissed Bol Mel from his roles in both the government and the party, but did not appoint a successor. The government has not provided a reason for this decision.

Bol Mel, aged 52, was appointed as vice-president and head of the government's economic cluster in February, succeeding veteran politician James Wani Igga. In May, he was elevated to the position of first deputy chairman of the SPLM, which was perceived as a move to bolster his influence within the party.

Holy Childhood was celebrated with great fervor and devotion at the Holy Family Parish in Nazareth . The event was marked by a series of spiritual activities, including prayers, hymns, and a special mass dedicated to the Holy Childhood.

Father Santino, the parish priest who presided over the mass, delivered a poignant sermon emphasizing the importance of the day. He highlighted the significance of the Feast of Holy Childhood, which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ and the innocence and purity of childhood. Father Santino urged the congregation to reflect on the teachings of the Gospel, which encourage us to be thankful and to cultivate a spirit of gratitude in our lives.

A key aspect of Father Santino's message was the importance of considering and including children in all aspects of community life. He stressed that children are the future of the Church and society, and their voices and needs should be respected and valued. He encouraged the parishioners to create an environment where children feel loved, nurtured, and inspired to grow in their faith.

The National Unity Government of Western Bahr el Ghazal State, under the leadership of State Governor Major General Sheriff Daniel Sheriff, has declared three days of mourning following the final viewing of the body of Dr. Vincent Taban Joseph, the former Minister of Health. This decision was made to honor the late official, who recently passed away in the Republic of India after battling an illness.

The move comes as a recognition of Dr. Taban's significant contributions to the development of the health sector and his service to the citizens during his tenure. He was known for his constant commitment to improving healthcare services in the state.

On August 22, 2025, the Western Bahr El Ghazal State Youth Union marked International Youth Day with a celebration filled with hope and calls to actions.

The Deputy Chairperson Omnia Arkangelo the even opened by thanking everyone who contributed to the event's success and made a heartfelt appeal to girls who had dropped out of school to return and continue their education.

The Secretary General George Arkangelo on behalf of the Chairperson AndLino Gabriel urged the community in Wau County to take the lead in solving their own challenges and encouraged young people to engage actively in agriculture and other sectors impacting their lives and he also asked the youth not to be use by politicians to create violence in their society.

Women leader in Bessilia at the event called for the urgent establishment of a primary healthcare center to serve the community’s needs.

The local chief reminded youth to be exemplary citizens and the security leader from Division Three advocated for regular government visits to communities to build trust in the societies.

The Minister of Agriculture asked youth to be part of all sectors of the state, promising ongoing collaboration to ensure they are well represented.

The Honorable Speaker Of Legislative assembly WBGS expressed deep appreciation for the youth, calling on them to love, respect, and collaborate with one another.

In addition, He thanked Chairperson AndLino and ask the Youth Union continue these inspiring initiatives,

Hon. Rodolfo Andrea, Minister of the Council of Ministers and representing governor encouraged youth to embrace moral activities and support the building of a strong, positive youth community.

The Minister of Education and representing Minister of youth culture and sports reaffirmed his commitment to support Youth Union and young people in the state.
