Very true.
YOUR CHILD DID NOT FAIL LIFE BECAUSE OF KCSE
If your child scored a C minus or below in KCSE, relax.
This is not the end.
It was never the end.
We are panicking over grades in a system that is already broken.
Cheating is real.
Leakages are real.
Inflated grades are real.
Some of the straight As you are celebrating today will struggle badly in real life.
Merit is no longer the ultimate measure of success.
It can be manipulated.
It can be bought.
It can be gamed.
What cannot be faked is ability.
As a parent, your bigger question should not be: “What grade did my child get?”
It should be: “What can my child actually do?”
Can they learn a skill?
Can they build something?
Can they solve problems?
Can they adapt?
Can they work with their hands or their mind?
Some of the most successful people today were average students.
Not because school is useless.
But because life rewards competence, not certificates.
KCSE only measures one thing.
How well your child performed in an exam under pressure.
It does NOT measure:
• Creativity
• Discipline
• Curiosity
• Hustle
• Talent
• Technical ability
Your child may not be academic.
That’s okay.
They can learn:
• Digital skills
• Trades
• Crafts
• Technology
• Business
• Content creation
• Design
• Mechanics
• Carpentry
• Coding
Stop shaming children for grades.
Stop comparing them to neighbors.
Stop treating KCSE like a life sentence.
Education is bigger than exams.
Success is bigger than grades.
Parents, calm down.
Students, don’t lose hope.
This is not the end of the road.
It’s just a bend.
What matters next is direction, skills, and support.
Grades don’t define destiny.
Ability does.
