Eswatini: While the 'Lugodvo Kimi' trend has broken the internet app Facebook, the local content creators have lost a fortune on potential revenue from the facebook monetization platform that other content creators from other countries enjoy.
The 'Lugodvo Kimi' series videos have accumulated over 1.5 million views in a short time. While part 2 of the series accumulated 641 Thousand views, part 3 accumulated 571 Thousand views. Meanwhile part 4 has already accumulated 226 Thousand views in less than 24 hours. This means that the local content creators could have made Thousands of Emalangeni with the Lugodvo Kimi series alone had Eswatini been eligible for Facebook content monetization.
The 'Lugodvo Kimi' trend by Gogo, Hembe,Slim Bee and Silwane is the current trend both in Eswatini and South Africa, especially in Mpumalanga where big co-operations such as The Ligwalagwala FM have also used in their online communication.
Eswatini remains ineligible for the Facebook monetization platform as the government of Eswatini fails to work on the eligibility status of the country. This has deprived hardworking Eswatini content creators a lucrative opportunity to make wealth through this platform. Meanwhile, other content creators from other countries are making a lot of money through facebook monetization.
