A low-scoring Matchweek 26 in the MTN PREMIER LEAGUE saw just six goals scored across the seven matches played so far. Royal Leopard recorded the biggest scoreline of the weekend, putting three goals past Manzini Wanderers in an emphatic display.

The headline result of the matchweek came in the Yithi Abantu Derby, where Nsingizini Hotspurs left it late against Rangers, finding the winner in the 89th minute to officially secure the league championship.

At the bottom of the table, the relegation battle continues to tighten. Amawele and Sisonkhe now find themselves staring at the drop after Saturday’s defeats left them in the automatic relegation positions with only two matches remaining.

Both sides now face a daunting task — not only must they win their final two fixtures, but they will also need results elsewhere to go in their favour. As things stand, the points tally suggests at least one of the two will not be part of the top flight next season, with the playoffs now appearing to be the most realistic route to survival.

The MTN Premier League season edges closer to its conclusion with just three matches left on the calendar as the previously postponed Matchweek 27 finally gets underway this Thursday.

Saturday delivers one of the defining fixtures of the weekend as Rangers welcome Nsingizini Hotspurs to the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in Nhlangano for the latest edition of the Yithi Abantu Derby.

There is far more than regional pride riding on this one.

For Nsingizini Hotspurs, victory would officially seal a successful league title defence and complete a remarkable domestic campaign in which they would have claimed everything on offer locally. Rangers, meanwhile, remain firmly in pursuit of a top four finish and will see this as an opportunity to keep those ambitions alive heading into the closing stretch.

Then comes Sunday and the headline act.

The grand old theatre hosts the latest chapter of the Mbabane Derby as Mbabane Highlanders and Mbabane Swallows renew rivalries with bragging rights and league positioning both hanging in the balance.

The match remained deadlocked through 90 minutes, with neither side able to find a breakthrough. In extra time, Ayanda Gadlela delivered a moment of brilliance - or sheer luck, depending on which side of the the divide you stand - looping a ball from the edge of the box that curled perfectly into the corner to break the stalemate, giving Nsingizini Hotspurs the lead.
