The event, which is designed to provide a global kick-off to the racing calendar, is scheduled for February 2026.

Initially, Dorna had informed teams that the prestigious season launch would take place in Singapore, a move intended to utilise the city-state's modern image and global hub status. However, despite the initial appeal, unforeseen logistical and operational issues tied to hosting the large-scale event—which involves coordinating nearly the entire grid of riders, team personnel, and media—prompted the promoter to opt for a more practical solution.

The new host city, Kuala Lumpur (KL), offers clear advantages that prioritise the efficiency of the massive MotoGP operation:

* Proximity to Testing: KL is located less than an hour from the Sepang International Circuit, where the official pre-season testing will be held. This proximity greatly simplifies the travel and resource management for all teams and riders.

* Logistical Ease: Malaysia has a strong motorsport infrastructure and a long-standing relationship with MotoGP, having successfully hosted numerous team launches and Grand Prix events.

The choice to relocate, despite having previously announced Singapore, underscores Dorna's commitment to prioritising the operational demands of the teams. The official pre-season test in Sepang is already a critical, non-negotiable part of the calendar where riders and teams finalise their 2026 race setups. Forcing teams to manage a demanding, high-profile launch event followed by a move to a completely different country for testing was deemed an unnecessary strain on resources and personnel.

Kuala Lumpur's proven track record as a major MotoGP hub further solidified the decision. The city and the nearby Sepang circuit are intrinsically linked to the sport's testing and calendar schedule, offering familiar ground and local expertise. This move ensures that the launch event, while glamorous, remains integrated smoothly into the intensive pre-season testing schedule, maximising the time teams have for crucial development work.

Francesco Bagnaia expressed a complex mix of emotions regarding his perfect double win at Motegi, along with regrets about the Ducati fix that he felt "could've been sooner."

Two-time World Champion Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia of the Ducati Lenovo Team admitted to feeling a complicated mix of emotions—"pleased, but furious"—after dominating the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix at Twin Ring Motegi. Bagnaia achieved a flawless weekend, securing pole position, the sprint race victory, and the Grand Prix win.

This double victory was a monumental return to form, coming after a season-long struggle with front-end issues on his GP25 machine that had left him without a single podium finish in the preceding ten races.

Bagnaia pinpointed the post-race test at Misano, where Ducati made what he described as some "unconventional" changes, as the critical turning point that delivered a massive impact.

"In the test in Misano, I was riding 0.7 faster, so quite a huge difference," Bagnaia shared. "It's true that the results from this season are a bit strange, and what happened this weekend is that... we finally found the way."

His frustration, however, was palpable: "I'm pleased about today, but I'm also furious about this weekend, because maybe we could've done it earlier, maybe after one or two Grands Prix," he added. "The only shame is that we needed 16 races [to find this solution]. But it is what it is."

Bagnaia's primary complaint this season revolved around losing the crucial front-end feel for braking and corner entry, forcing him to constantly "fight" his bike. With the modifications, the Italian rediscovered his championship-winning confidence.

"This weekend I was riding my bike and not fighting with it," he explained on Sunday evening. "It was much easier for me to brake hard and enter fast into the corners without having that much movement, that much locking, or that much understeering."

He acknowledged seeing "the light in the Misano test", realising that without the fix, a low-grip track like Motegi could have been another nightmare scenario, similar to his struggles at Barcelona.

Bagnaia's dream weekend was nearly derailed—literally—when intermittent puffs of smoke began spewing from the right exhaust of his Desmosedici GP25 during the second half of the race. Fortunately, the engine remained strong, preventing him from incurring any penalties.

"I didn't know anything. "I was just not understanding why in the last three or four laps I was out of power in some corners," Bagnaia admitted. "But finally, I didn't get any sanction; if I did, it was maybe the most upsetting moment of my career! So it's better like this."

Despite Marc Marquez's title win overshadowing his performance, Bagnaia successfully cut 27 points from Alex Marquez's lead for second place in the championship standings. He is now focused on the remainder of the season.

"Maybe in the next grand prix, I will be back in 20th position, but I just want to enjoy the moment," Bagnaia concluded, offering sincere congratulations to Marquez. "He was super-deserving of this title. He was unbeatable this season, and [we will] see if I can fight with him in the next five races."

The third round of the Thai national motorcycle road racing championship, the NEXZTER BRIC Superbike Championship 2025, took place from September 26 to 28, with the highly anticipated finals held on Sunday, September 28, at the challenging Chang International Circuit in Buriram.

The weekend’s highlight, the Superbike 1,000cc (SB1 Pro) race, delivered high-octane action. Pole-sitter "Stamp" Aphiwat Wongthananon of the East NJT Racing Team faced an immediate and fierce challenge from rising star "Mix" Thanat Laoongplio from IDEMITSU Honda Team Krismas.

Thanat started with aggressive intent, swiftly seizing the lead over Aphiwat on the opening lap.
