A Timeless Retreat with Climate Resilience

Plean Plang House

ตั้งอยู่ท่ามกลางเนินเขาที่ลาดเอียงอย่างอ่อนโยนของปากช่อง Plean Plang House คือบ้านพักตากอากาศหลังที่สอง ขนาด 420 ตร.ม. ที่ผสมผสานเสน่ห์ของสถาปัตยกรรม บ้านไร่ชนบทแบบอเมริกัน เข้ากับกลยุทธ์การออกแบบร่วมสมัยที่มุ่งเน้นความยืดหยุ่นต่อสภาพภูมิอากาศและการปรับตัวต่อภาวะน้ำท่วม บ้านหลังนี้ถูกออกแบบให้เป็นที่พักผ่อนหลีกหนีความวุ่นวายจากเมือง ด้วยบรรยากาศที่สงบ เรียบง่าย หลังคาทรงจั่ว ระเบียงกว้าง และวัสดุที่อบอุ่น ขณะเดียวกันก็ตอบสนองต่อความเสี่ยงน้ำหลากฉับพลันในพื้นที่สูง พื้นที่ก่อสร้างที่งดงามแต่เสี่ยงต่อการกัดเซาะของดินจึงเป็นทั้งโอกาสและความท้าทาย: จะสร้างพื้นที่ที่สงบงามและชวนให้รำลึกถึงอดีต แต่ยังคงแข็งแรงและพร้อมรับมือกับสภาพอากาศที่เปลี่ยนแปลงได้อย่างไร

คำตอบ อยู่ที่แนวคิด Elevated Landform Architecture แพลตฟอร์มภูมิทัศน์ที่ยกตัวบ้านขึ้นเหนือเส้นทางไหลของน้ำ ทำให้สามารถระบายน้ำได้ตามธรรมชาติ คงการเข้าถึงที่แห้งปลอดภัย และผสานอย่างกลมกลืนกับสภาพภูมิประเทศ ใต้พื้นดิน ระบบเก็บกักน้ำฝนช่วยรวบรวมน้ำจากหลังคาและพื้นแข็ง เพื่อนำกลับมาใช้รดน้ำต้นไม้และลดความเสี่ยงจากน้ำท่วม วิธีการนี้พัฒนาร่วมกับ Chichibu Chemical ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับปรัชญาของ nppn ที่มุ่งออกแบบ “โครงสร้างพื้นฐานที่มองไม่เห็น” — การแก้ปัญหาที่เสริมความยืดหยุ่นอย่างเงียบ ๆ โดยไม่กลบภาพลักษณ์ทางสถาปัตยกรรม ตั้งแต่ฐานรากหินธรรมชาติ ฉากบังแดดไม้ หลังคาดินเผา ไปจนถึงพื้นที่ที่ถ่ายเทอากาศได้ วัสดุทุกชนิดถูกเลือกอย่างพิถีพิถันเพื่อความสบาย ความทนทาน และความกลมกลืนกับธรรมชาติ

สิ่งที่ทำให้ Plean Plang House โดดเด่น ไม่ใช่เพียงฟังก์ชันการใช้งาน แต่รวมถึงกระบวนการออกแบบที่มีส่วนร่วมกับเจ้าของบ้าน มีการเสนอทางเลือกการออกแบบ 2 แนวทาง เพื่อให้เกิดความยืดหยุ่น การปรับตัวกับวิถีชีวิต และความสะดวกในการดูแลรักษาในระยะยาว แบบสุดท้ายที่ถูกเลือกสะท้อนความเชื่อของ nppn design and research ว่า “ความยืดหยุ่นและความงามสามารถอยู่ร่วมกันได้ และการปรับตัวสามารถมีความสง่างามและหยั่งรากในพื้นที่”

Located in the gently sloping hills of Pak Chong, Plean Plang House is a 420 sq.m. second home designed for Dr. Pock that blends the charm of American countryside farmhouse architecture with modern strategies for climate resilience and flood adaptation. Conceived as a restful escape from city life, the house embraces a calm and grounded aesthetic, gabled roofs, wide verandas, and warm materials, while responding sensitively to the increasing risk of flash flooding in upland areas. The site’s beautiful but erosion-prone terrain posed both opportunity and challenge: how to craft a serene, nostalgic space that is also structurally and environmentally prepared for a changing climate.

The chosen solution lies in elevated landform architecture a sculpted platform that lifts the home above potential water paths, allowing for natural runoff, dry access, and subtle integration with the landscape. Below the surface, an underground rainwater storage system collects runoff from roofs and hardscape, providing water for irrigation and reducing flood risk. This approach, developed in collaboration with Chichibu Chemical, aligns with nppn’s philosophy of “invisible infrastructure” design solutions that quietly build resilience without dominating the aesthetic language. From natural stone foundations and timber shading screens to clay tiles and cross-ventilated spaces, every material choice is calibrated for comfort, durability, and ecological harmony.What distinguishes Plean Plang House is not only its functionality, but the participatory process that shaped it. Two design options were explored collaboratively with the client, offering paths of flexibility, lifestyle adaptation, and long-term ease of maintenance. The final version reflects nppn design and research’s belief that resilience and beauty can coexist that adaptation can be elegant and rooted in place. As demand grows for second homes in climate-vulnerable rural areas, this project becomes a model for gentle, sustainable living, one that listens to land, honors lifestyle, and prepares for an uncertain future with quiet confidence.

ตั้งอยู่ในย่านชุมชนหนาแน่นของช่องนนทรี เขตยานนาวา Poppy’s House คือโครงการรีโนเวตบ้านพื้นที่ 340 ตร.ม. ที่ตีความโครงสร้างบ้านสองชั้นทั่วไปให้กลายเป็นที่อยู่อาศัยร่วมสมัยที่ตอบสนองต่อสภาพภูมิอากาศ ออกแบบเพื่อเจ้าของบ้านส่วนบุคคล โดยเลือกใช้โครงสร้างเหล็กเบาเพื่อลดน้ำหนักอาคาร ขณะเดียวกันก็เพิ่มความยืดหยุ่นในการจัดสรรพื้นที่ ตัวอาคารถูกห่อหุ้มด้วยฟาซาดเหล็กเจาะรูสีขาว ทำหน้าที่สร้างสมดุลระหว่างความเปิดโล่งและความเป็นส่วนตัว ให้ทั้งแสงและลมสามารถกรองเข้าสู่ภายใน ขณะเดียวกันก็บังสายตาจากถนน ฟาซาดที่เป็นเสมือน “ผิวหนังชั้นที่สอง” นี้ช่วยสร้างอัตลักษณ์เฉพาะตัว พร้อมทั้งเสริมประสิทธิภาพด้านอุณหภูมิ การระบายอากาศ และการรับรู้จากถนน

พื้นที่ชั้นสองถูกออกแบบให้มีโซนพักผ่อนบนดาดฟ้า พร้อมต้นไม้ แปลงปลูก และเฉลียงเล็ก ๆ ที่เปลี่ยนหลังคาให้กลายเป็นสวนส่วนตัว ซึ่งหาได้ยากในที่ดินขนาดกะทัดรัดใจกลางกรุงเทพฯ สวนบนหลังคานี้ไม่เพียงแต่เป็นพื้นที่พักผ่อน แต่ยังทำหน้าที่เป็นตัวกลางปรับสภาพแวดล้อมขนาดเล็ก (micro-climate buffer) ที่ช่วยชะลอการไหลบ่าของน้ำฝนก่อนเข้าสู่ระบบระบายน้ำ สอดคล้องกับปรัชญาของ nppn design and research ที่มุ่งเน้นการผสาน “ธรรมชาติ” เข้ากับงานออกแบบในทุกสเกล โครงการนี้จึงสามารถดึงพื้นที่แนวตั้งที่มักถูกละเลยกลับมาใช้ใหม่ และฟื้นฟูความสงบรวมถึงฟังก์ชันทางนิเวศวิทยาในที่ดินเมืองขนาดเล็กได้อย่างลงตัว โครงสร้างเหล็กเบายังช่วยให้งานก่อสร้างเสร็จได้รวดเร็วโดยไม่รบกวนไซต์มากนัก และด้วยน้ำหนักที่เบา จึงสามารถเพิ่มชั้นดาดฟ้าเข้าไปโดยไม่กระทบต่อฐานรากเดิม

Located in the dense urban district of Chong Nonsi, Yan Nawa, Poppy’s House is a 340 sq.m. renovation project that reimagines a typical two-story structure into a contemporary, climate-sensitive dwelling. Designed for a private owner, the house adopts a light steel structural frame to minimize construction weight while maximizing spatial flexibility. Wrapped in a white perforated metal façade, the building introduces a subtle balance between openness and privacy, allowing daylight and air to filter in while shielding interior views from the street. This architectural “second skin” provides a distinct identity while enhancing thermal performance, airflow, and street presence. It’s a home shaped not just by program and aesthetics, but by context, constraint, and the realities of Bangkok’s evolving urban environment.

The second floor features a rooftop recreation zone, where planters, trees, and a small terrace transform the roof into a private garden, rare for a compact plot in Bangkok. This green roof is both a leisure space and a micro-climate buffer, helping delay rainwater runoff before it reaches the drainage system. In line with nppn design and research’s philosophy of integrating nature-based solutions in every scale, the project reclaims underused vertical space and restores moments of calm and ecological function in a tight urban footprint. The steel frame allowed for swift construction with minimal site disruption, and its lightness made it possible to introduce added rooftop layers without overwhelming the existing foundations.

Inside, the house is designed with a restrained material palette, concrete flooring, bamboo screens, timber accents, and open-plan transitions that blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor. Natural light filters softly through the perforated façade, reducing energy loads and creating a gentle, luminous atmosphere. While modest in scale, Poppy’s House offers a model for urban resilience, privacy, and comfort through architectural clarity and environmental logic. It demonstrates how thoughtful renovation can elevate not only a structure but also a way of life, one that breathes, adapts, and thrives within the rhythm of the modern city.

การออกแบบภายในครั้งนี้สะท้อนแนวคิดของ “การใช้ชีวิตท่ามกลางความโปร่งโล่งและความอบอุ่น” ผ่านโถงเพดานสูง (Double Volume) ที่เปิดรับแสงธรรมชาติจากหน้าต่างบานใหญ่ แสงแดดยามเช้าสาดเข้ามาเติมพลังและสร้างบรรยากาศที่สดชื่นให้กับพื้นที่

เฟอร์นิเจอร์ถูกจัดวางอย่างพิถีพิถัน โซฟาสีเขียวเข้มคู่กับหมอนโทนอบอุ่น ให้ความรู้สึกสดชื่นผ่อนคลาย ในขณะที่เก้าอี้และโต๊ะรับประทานอาหารดีไซน์เรียบง่าย สะท้อนถึงฟังก์ชันที่ลงตัวกับการใช้งานจริง

รายละเอียดวัสดุยังคงเป็นหัวใจสำคัญของงานออกแบบ ผนังหินธรรมชาติที่ให้ความรู้สึกมั่นคง สลับกับการใช้กระจกใสที่ช่วยเบลอเส้นแบ่งของ “ภายใน” และ “ภายนอก” ทำให้บ้านเชื่อมต่อกับสวนและพื้นที่สีเขียวได้อย่างต่อเนื่อง

ด้านบนโชว์โครงสร้างไม้ของหลังคา (Glubam) เพิ่มเสน่ห์แบบดิบ (Raw) ผสมผสานกับความโมเดิร์นอย่างลงตัว ทำให้บ้านดูโปร่งโล่งแต่ยังคงความอบอุ่นของวัสดุธรรมชาติ

พื้นที่นี้ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงห้องนั่งเล่นหรือห้องรับประทานอาหาร แต่เป็น “หัวใจของบ้าน” ที่ทุกคนสามารถใช้ร่วมกัน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการพักผ่อน สนทนา หรือใช้เวลาร่วมกันในทุก ๆ วัน

Jitnipa House
เป็นการปรับปรุงบ้านพักอาศัยที่ละเอียดอ่อนและใส่ใจ ตั้งอยู่ในหมู่บ้านจัดสรรที่มีกำแพงรอบในกรุงเทพฯ ออกแบบสำหรับครอบครัวเล็ก ซึ่งประกอบด้วยเจ้าของบ้านผู้หญิงและคุณยายสูงอายุ โครงการนี้ตอบโจทย์สองสิ่งสำคัญคือ ความปลอดภัยและความเป็นส่วนตัว รวมถึง การเข้าถึงได้สำหรับทุกวัย พื้นที่ปรับปรุงรวม 250 ตารางเมตร ได้เปลี่ยนบ้านสองชั้นเก่าให้กลายเป็นบ้านที่อบอุ่น ใช้งานได้จริง และปรับตัวได้ โดยผสมผสานทั้งความต้องการด้านอารมณ์และความแม่นยำเชิงเทคนิค

แนวทางการออกแบบมุ่งเน้น ความรู้สึกของการถูกโอบล้อมและการควบคุม สะท้อนความต้องการของเจ้าของที่อยู่อาศัยที่ต้องการความปลอดภัยระยะยาวและพื้นที่ส่วนตัวอันเงียบสงบ ผังบ้านถูกปรับใหม่โดยคำนึงถึงทั้งเจ้าของและผู้ดูแล มีห้องนอนชั้นล่าง 2 ห้อง ทางเดินไร้ระดับขั้น และผนังกระจกที่ช่วยให้สามารถมองเห็นห้องคุณยายได้โดยไม่รบกวน บนชั้นลอยมีพื้นที่ยืดหยุ่นสำหรับหลานหรือแขก ส่วนลานหลังบ้านถูกปรับให้ใช้ได้เต็มที่ พร้อมคงขอบเขตที่ชัดเจนและความเรียบร้อยทางสายตา

บริบทและกลยุทธ์การปรับปรุง
บ้านเดิมถูกต่อเติมหลายครั้งแบบไม่มีการประสานงาน ทำให้เกิดปัญหาน้ำรั่วและวัสดุเสื่อมสภาพ กลยุทธ์การปรับปรุงจึงรวมถึงการรื้อหลังคาที่ชำรุด การเอาโครงสร้างที่ไม่จำเป็นออก และสร้างรูปแบบการหมุนเวียนใหม่ การออกแบบยังคงรักษาต้นไม้ใหญ่ ใช้ประโยชน์จากบ้านของครอบครัวที่อยู่ฝั่งตรงข้าม และเพิ่มพื้นที่ภายในและกึ่งกลางแจ้งที่สบายยิ่งขึ้น

แนวทางการออกแบบ
หัวใจของงานคือ โครงสร้างหลังคาไม้ Glubam ที่ทำให้เกิดภาษาสถาปัตยกรรมที่เรียบง่าย แข็งแรง และอบอุ่น พร้อมเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพด้านการป้องกันความร้อน

ด้านหน้าอาคารถูกออกแบบใหม่เป็น ผิวป้องกันสองชั้น ที่ช่วยให้ร่มเงา ระบายอากาศ และป้องกันฝน ในเชิงความยั่งยืน ได้นำกระเบื้อง CPAC Monier จากโครงสร้างเดิมกลับมาใช้ใหม่เป็นแผงบังสายตา ลดของเสียและเพิ่มพื้นผิวให้กับพื้นที่กึ่งกลางแจ้ง

พื้นที่นั่งเล่นและรับประทานอาหารถูกปรับให้เป็นโถงสูงสองชั้น โปร่ง โล่ง และระบายอากาศธรรมชาติได้ดี การจัดโซนมีความชัดเจน ทั้งส่วนสาธารณะ ส่วนตัว และส่วนบริการ โดยระบบท่อและงานบริการทั้งหมดถูกวางไว้ตามแนวรอบอาคาร เพื่อให้บำรุงรักษาในอนาคตได้ง่ายโดยไม่รบกวนการอยู่อาศัย

Jitnipa House is a sensitive and thoughtful residential renovation located in a gated housing estate in Bangkok. Designed for a small family, comprising a woman homeowner and her elderly grandmother, the project responds to the dual priorities of safety and privacy, as well as the need for universal accessibility. With a total renovation area of 250 sq.m., the design transforms an aging two-story house into a warm, functional, and adaptive home that balances emotional needs and technical precision.

The architectural approach emphasizes a sense of enclosure and control, reflecting the client’s desire for long-term safety and quiet personal space. The layout is reconfigured with both owner and caregiver in mind, with two ground-floor bedrooms, step-free access, and a glass partition that enables passive observation of the grandmother’s room. On the mezzanine, a flexible space is introduced to accommodate grandchildren or guests. The rear yard is fully built out to maximize usable space, while maintaining clear boundaries and visual order.

Context & Renovation Strategy
The original structure had undergone multiple uncoordinated additions over the years, resulting in water leakage and material fatigue. The renovation strategy involves selective demolition of damaged roofs, removal of redundant structural elements, and introduction of a new circulation pattern. The design carefully preserves mature trees on-site, leverages the family-owned home across the street, and enhances both indoor and semi-outdoor comfort zones.

Design Approach At the heart of the design is a modernized Glubam timber roof structure that defines a clean, monolithic architectural language while enhancing thermal performance and visual warmth. The building façade is reimagined as a double-layered protective skin, a passive system that provides shading, ventilation, and rain screening. In a gesture of sustainability, CPAC Monier roof tiles from the original structure are repurposed as privacy screens, reducing waste and adding texture to the semi-outdoor relaxation zone.

The living and dining areas are reorganized into an open, double-height volume that introduces natural ventilation and spatial generosity. Zoning follows strict logic: public, private, and service areas are clearly delineated, with service lines routed along the perimeter to allow for future maintenance without disrupting internal living spaces.

Philosophical Alignment with nppn Design and Research
Jitnipa House exemplifies nppn’s philosophy of designing with empathy, systems thinking, and environmental foresight. It reflects the firm’s commitment to aging-in-place design, material reuse, and climate-responsive renovation. ทีมเราได้ลงพื้นที่ตรวจความคืบหน้างานก่อสร้าง ซึ่งตอนนี้ได้ทำการถมดินปิดคลุมวัสดุรับน้ำเรียบร้อยแล้ว พร้อมทั้งเริ่มงานภูมิทัศน์โดยการเรียงอิฐมอญรอบพื้นที่ และปูอิฐตัวหนอนในบริเวณที่จอดรถ เพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมเข้าสู่ขั้นตอนต่อไปของโครงการต้นแบบระบบจัดการน้ำฝนที่ออกแบบโดย NPPN Design and Research ซึ่งมุ่งเน้นการเพิ่มความยืดหยุ่นให้เมืองรับมือกับปัญหาน้ำท่วมได้อย่างยั่งยืน

เป็นโครงการต้นแบบด้านการรับมือกับปัญหาน้ำท่วม ที่ออกแบบโดย NPPN Design and Research

โครงการ “ถังเก็บน้ำใต้ดิน” นี้ ถือเป็นนวัตกรรมแรก ๆ ที่ผสานระหว่าง โครงสร้างพื้นฐานที่ทนต่อสภาพภูมิอากาศ, การเรียนการสอนด้านการออกแบบ, และ ความตระหนักรู้ทางสิ่งแวดล้อม เข้าด้วยกัน ตั้งอยู่ในบริเวณคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ของ มทร.ธัญบุรี ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ประมาณ 200 ตารางเมตร เป็นโครงการต้นแบบที่นำเสนอระบบโมดูลาร์ในการเก็บน้ำฝนใต้ดิน โดยร่วมมือกับ บริษัท CHICHIBU Chemical จากประเทศญี่ปุ่น และได้รับทุนสนับสนุนจาก กระทรวงเศรษฐกิจ การค้า และอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศญี่ปุ่น (METI)

โครงการนี้ได้รับการออกแบบให้ทำหน้าที่ ทั้งเป็นโครงสร้างพื้นฐานและพื้นที่การเรียนรู้ โดยสามารถดักจับและกักเก็บน้ำฝนไว้ใช้ในกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ เช่น การรดน้ำต้นไม้ และ การใช้น้ำที่ไม่จำเป็นต้องเป็นน้ำดื่ม พื้นผิวด้านบนได้รับการออกแบบให้เป็น พื้นที่สาธารณะสีเขียวสำหรับการพักผ่อน พร้อมกับการจัดวางป้ายให้ข้อมูล, ระบบแสดงผลข้อมูลแบบ Dashboard, และ ช่องชมระบบใต้ดิน เพื่อเชื่อมโยงผู้ใช้งานกับโครงสร้างไฮดรอลิกที่อยู่ด้านล่าง

โครงการนี้จึงทำหน้าที่สองอย่างไปพร้อมกัน คือ เพิ่มศักยภาพในการรับมือน้ำท่วม และ ส่งเสริมความรู้สาธารณะ แสดงให้เห็นว่าสถาบันการศึกษาสามารถเป็น พื้นที่ทดลองนวัตกรรมการจัดการน้ำแบบกระจายศูนย์ ได้

โครงการนี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของงานวิจัยที่นำโดย WAIC (Water Adaptation Innovation Center) แห่ง มทร.ธัญบุรี ซึ่งมีพันธกิจในการ บันทึก วิเคราะห์ และเผยแพร่ ข้อมูลเชิงเทคนิคและหลักการออกแบบที่สามารถปรับใช้ในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ถือเป็นต้นแบบที่สามารถ นำไปประยุกต์ใช้ซ้ำได้ สำหรับสถาบันในเมืองที่ต้องเผชิญกับ ความผันผวนของสภาพอากาศและความไม่มั่นคงทางน้ำ ที่เพิ่มมากขึ้น

- The Plastic Rainwater Storage Structure (PRSS)
At the Faculty of Architecture, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) is a pioneering flood resilience solution designed by NPPN Design and Research. The Underground Water Storage at RMUTT is a pioneering initiative that merges climate-resilient infrastructure, design education, and environmental awareness. Located on the campus of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), this 200-square-meter prototype introduces a modular underground rainwater storage system developed in collaboration with CHICHIBU Chemical (Japan) and funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan.

Designed as both infrastructure and learning platform, the project captures and stores stormwater for reuse in irrigation and non-potable functions, while transforming the surface above into a landscaped public zone. The system is visible, accessible, and educational, featuring interpretive signage, data dashboards, and possible viewing ports that connect users to the hidden hydraulic system below. This dual function enhances both flood resilience and public engagement, showcasing how universities can become laboratories for decentralized water management.

The project is part of a broader research initiative led by WAIC (Water Adaptation Innovation Center) at RMUTT, committed to documenting and disseminating performance data, technical knowledge, and adaptive design principles across Southeast Asia. It stands as a replicable model for urban institutions facing increasing climate variability and water insecurity.
