🤫 Keep this between us...

Honestly, if I were staying in Khao Lak long-term, I probably wouldn't be sharing this spot. But since I'm off on new adventures for a while, I can finally let you in on one of my favorite local secrets.

There’s a small local steam sauna in Khao Lak that hardly anyone seems to know about. And it's absolutely worth visiting.

What I love most is the vibe. You'll find surfers, locals, and long-term expats hanging out here. It feels authentic, relaxed, and far removed from the typical tourist scene.

The owner prepares fresh herbal steam blends using whatever is in season — turmeric, ginger, and other local herbs. Every session feels a little different, and the aroma is incredible.

One thing I noticed: they used to have a sauna sign by the road, but a few months ago it disappeared. My guess is they prefer to keep things low-key and avoid attracting large crowds.

But if you're into wellness, recovery, and discovering hidden local gems, this place is definitely worth checking out.

And if you'd like the location, leave a comment and I'll share it. 🌿✨

🌊 Pakarang Beach can be incredibly beautiful even during the rainy season.

On sunny days, especially when it hasn't rained for a while and the tide is right, the water takes on the most beautiful colors.

The river near Apsara, the coastal views, and the peaceful atmosphere make this stretch of beach feel especially charming.

One of the many reasons I love cozy Pakarang Beach. ☀️🌴✨

Low season has its perks — Avani's pool is usually almost empty, which makes it feel like your own private slice of paradise. 🌊✨

5 things I stopped doing after 35 (for longevity & wellness)

Since turning 35 — and even more now in my 40s — I became much more intentional about what I don’t do. Sometimes longevity is less about adding more habits and more about removing the ones that quietly damage your body over time.

1. Red meat.
I stopped eating it completely. Many long-term studies link high consumption of red and processed meat with increased risk of certain cancers and chronic inflammation. My focus now is on lighter, plant-based foods that are easier for the body to process and support long-term metabolic health.

2. Cow’s milk.
This isn’t only about lactose intolerance. Cow’s milk naturally contains growth hormones designed to help a calf grow extremely fast. For adults, constant exposure to these growth signals (like IGF-1) may contribute to inflammation and accelerated aging processes. That’s why many longevity researchers — including people like Bryan Johnson — prefer plant-based alternatives.

3. Poor sleep.
Sleep is the foundation of my wellness and longevity routine. It’s when the brain detoxifies, cells repair, hormones rebalance, and the nervous system resets. Without good sleep, it doesn’t matter how well you eat, how expensive your skincare is, or how often you train. Everything else becomes secondary.

4. Over-exercising.
I love training — Pilates, yoga, strength, mobility — but I’ve learned that recovery is just as important as movement. Constant intense training without recovery pushes the body into stress mode, elevates cortisol, disrupts hormonal balance, and can even accelerate aging. Especially for women 40+, protecting hormonal balance is crucial.

5. Chronic stress & overthinking.
At some point you realize that most things in life don’t deserve that level of stress. Overthinking and constant mental pressure affect everything — hormones, skin, energy levels, mood, and even how we age. Learning to stay calm, let go, and focus on what truly matters is one of the most powerful longevity habits.

Sometimes longevity is not about doing more —
it’s about knowing what to stop. 🌿

.. is open to outside visitors too?

I actually stop by quite often for a coffee. The view is beautiful, and there really aren't that many cafés in Khao Lak where you can sit and enjoy a direct ocean view while having your coffee ☕️🌊

I usually cook at home, but I always try to get out to a café a few times a week ☕️✨

This café on Bangsak Beach (not in central Khao Lak) is one of my favorites. First, it's right by the beach, so you can enjoy your coffee with an ocean view and even go for a swim afterward.

And second — the ramen. It's not a traditional Japanese ramen, more of a local take on it, but it's honestly so good. The broth is especially delicious and full of flavor.

I've always loved this place for its cozy atmosphere, great coffee, and matcha. And if you're visiting with kids or just love trying unique desserts, definitely check out their ice cream selection. They have some really unusual local flavors, including shrimp and curry ice cream. Sounds unexpected, but it's actually a fun experience to try!

Friday morning is already looking good ☕️🏀

Woke up, took my wellness supplements real quick, and headed to my favorite café to watch the Spurs vs OKC game with a premium matcha in hand. Honestly, mornings like this are my favorite.

And Sunday’s game? I already know it’s gonna be insane. Can’t wait.

Now heading to Pilates because there was no way I was making it to an early workout today 😅
