Title: "A Young Life Derailed" – A Short Film by Karen Students at Mae Ra Moe Refugee Camp
=========================================

We produced short film portrays the devastating impact of drug use on the life of a young students. Set in the context of school and family life, the film follows a student's journey as his involvement with drugs leads to personal downfall, academic failure, and emotional distress within his family.

As the story unfolds, the consequences become clear, not only does the student suffer, but his actions also bring pain to his loved ones. Ultimately, he is left with deep regret, having realized too late the cost of his choices.

The purpose of this film is to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of drug abuse and to encourage them to stay focused on their goals, education, and future. Through storytelling, we hope to inspire students to make positive decisions, avoid harmful behaviors, and take responsibility for their role in their families and communities.

We, the Karen Student Network Group (KSNG), are committed to educating youth to value education, contribute to their communities, and cherish their families. The video reflects our mission to use creative expression as a tool for social change and youth empowerment.

29th KSNG Day Celebration Promotes Environmental Awareness at Mae La Refugee Camp

On July 5, the Central Karen Student Network Group (KSNG) and Maela KSNG jointly celebrated the 29th KSNG Day at the Mae La Karen Refugee Camp. The event welcomed hundreds of student participants from eight different schools, including both high school and college students.

A highlight of the day was the students’ creative performances centered around the "5Rs" of sustainable living: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot. Through music, fashion, and drama, students showcased upcycled and reused materials, turning waste into inspiring messages of environmental responsibility.

Central KSNG staff facilitated a one-day waste management training, focusing on proper disposal methods, recycling systems, and strategies to minimize environmental pollution. This initiative not only educated the youth on the impact of waste but also empowered them to become environmental stewards and role models within their communities. Students expressed pride in their involvement, highlighting how the event deepened their understanding of sustainability and inspired them to take active roles in environmental conservation.

“I never thought recycling could be so creative,” said one student. “Now I know how small actions can lead to big changes for our environment.”

KSNG Media Training Successfully Held at Mae Ra Moe Refugee Camp

On July 4, 2025, KSNG Media successfully conducted a comprehensive media training at the Mae Ra Moe Karen Refugee Camp, with the participation of 50 enthusiastic students.

The training covered a wide range of essential skills, including media literacy, camera operation, and basic videography techniques. In addition to technical training, we also offered leadership development, drama and visual arts workshops, as well as sessions on creative writing, focusing on essay and poetry composition.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants, camp leaders, school teachers, and community supporters who made this training possible. Your support and collaboration allowed students to fully engage in this valuable and enriching experience.

KSNG remains committed to empowering youth through skill-building and personal development. By fostering creativity, critical thinking, and community engagement, we aim to cultivate a new generation equipped to contribute meaningfully to their society with both passion and purpose.
