There was an 11pm curfew in Myanmar while we were there — a seasonal thing rather
than a permanent law, and plenty of locals will tell you it isn't really a curfew
at all. Functionally it was one.
It was 9:40pm when we decided to go to a club in Yangon. We didn't leave until
around 1am. The manager came out and told me to get back to my hotel, and to be
quick about it. Not because of anything I'd done — just because of who I am and
where I was standing.
She never finished the sentence. She didn't have to.
Still the friendliest country I've been to.
