Pinoy Thaiyo aims to raise awareness of various issues, trends, practices and other events that are of significant importance to the Filipino community in Thailand first and foremost as well as Filipinos in other parts of the world. By having the magazine published in English, we hope that it can also serve as a tool for other nationalities to see the Philippines in a more positive light and gain

a better understanding of Filipinos in general which will ultimately lead to their appreciation of our culture. The name Pinoy Thaiyo came as a result of a play on words that had both Filipino and Thai in them. “Tayo” which is the Filipino word for “We”, had its spelling changed to make it both unique and easily remembered.

Thailand’s women’s volleyball team claimed their first victory of the Volleyball Nations League 2026 after returning to form with a convincing 3-0 win over Bulgaria.

Thailand recovered from a slow start in the opening set, sharpened their defence and turned the momentum around to win 25-22. The team carried that confidence into the second set, holding firm under Bulgaria’s powerful attacks before taking it 25-20.

The Thai side maintained their rhythm in the third set and closed out the match 25-17, sealing a straight-sets victory.

The result moved Thailand on to six points and up to 14th place in the standings, five points clear of the relegation zone. They will next face Canada at Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok at 8.30pm on Saturday (June 20).

FILIPINO CONJOINED TWINS SUCCESSFULLY SEPARATED

Filipino conjoined twins Olivia and Giana Manuel have been successfully separated following a complex surgery in Saudi Arabia. The operation was performed on Thursday at King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in Riyadh by the Saudi Conjoined Twins Programme (SCTP).

According to Saudi authorities, the procedure was completed in six surgical phases over six hours and involved a 22-member medical team composed of pediatric surgeons, plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other specialists. | via Sherylin Untalan/GMA News
