Thailand Reclassifies Cannabis as a Narcotic — What Happens Next?

After a two-year boom in dispensaries, tourism, and small business growth, the Thai government is pulling the brakes. The Health Ministry has officially signed an order to reclassify cannabis as a Type 5 narcotic, banning recreational use and imposing strict controls on medical access.

Thousands of cannabis entrepreneurs now face legal uncertainty. Public hearings are open until July 25, but the policy direction is clear: the era of easy w**d in Thailand is ending.
