Charlie was already shining brightly as one of Donald Trump’s rising stars, and this photo holds great significance. I was invited to say a few words that day, but I declined, knowing it was Charlie’s moment to lead. And history shows—it truly was the beginning of something big.
It was Bill Montgomery, the co-founder of Turning Point USA, who encouraged Charlie and me to work together. The truth is, I wanted nothing to do with politics. I hated politics. I just wanted to see what it was like to sit at a fancy $25,000 dinner table. And Bill told me, “If you can fundraise $100,000, you can go for free.” That was enough to get me on board.
But Charlie had a different mission. His mission was from God: to bring our country closer to Jesus, to save our Republic, to fight for the unborn, and to achieve what many thought impossible—to engage millennials and inspire them to vote for candidate Trump.
Looking back, I remember how Charlie started Turning Point USA with nothing more than blue jeans and a blazer, while I could only afford an oversized, united, and cheap $60 suit. My face was clean-shaven, just like Charlie’s, as the two of us stood there in our youth, with nothing but conviction and faith. Two college dropouts—Charlie and myself—standing there with nothing but a dream. Little did we know the future God had in store for us. We dreamed it, but never imagined our love and conviction would have such an impact.
I never became a part of Turning Point—not because I didn’t believe in Charlie, but because to me, Charlie was first and foremost a friend. I wanted to stand beside him, not as a political partner, but as someone who believed in the man more than the movement. That was enough for me.
Now the world weeps at the loss of Charlie Kirk. It saddens me deeply that an assassination not only took his life, but also his dream of becoming the youngest president in American history.
Yet even in loss, Charlie’s mission continues. His legacy lives on in every young person he inspired, in every heart he turned toward faith, and in every voice still fighting for the Republic he loved. Though he is gone, the seeds he planted will grow for generations.
May we carry forward his mission—with courage, with faith, and with the same unshakable belief that God has a purpose for us all.
