Psyched to kick off our regional partnership between Radius Networks and Arup across South East Asia! 🚀

As part of this regional caravan, we’re delivering Radius’s flagship Employee Network Leadership Programme in-house, moving Employee Networks into strategic culture and business drivers.

We brought together Arup’s Connect Women+ network and Malaysia EDI Committee for an interactive 2-day summit. Together, we tackled:

🏳️‍🌈 Moving from Pride month visibility to 365-day operational readiness.

In collaboration with Pride Ready Asia in partnership with True Digital Park, I had the opportunity to speak at the Thailand Pride Economy Forum 2026. During our dedicated session on the Global Talent & ERG Outlook, we unpacked insights from the Radius Networks 2026 Global ERG Impact Report.

When Employee Resource Groups are structurally backed and operationalized as internal, they become vital levers for keeping companies economically competitive, accelerating talent retention, and directly safeguarding psychological safety all year-round.

An unforgettable time with the Out Role Models (ORM) from the global ERG community. One of the things that stays with ERG leaders are these moments of recognition that enable lifelong connections we wouldn't otherwise make.

Years ago, a cohort recognized as ORMs from all around the world convened in Manila, not only to celebrate Pride but to drive a holistic impact for the community and the company's clients and partners. It was great to be able to support a program led by Steph Galera-Robles and their team called IDEA: IBM Diversity Eminence Assembly.

This was a multi-day program which started with a conference that brought together suppliers, partners, clients, and IBMers to design employee experiences where everyone thrives. It was then followed by a commemoration for Pride month, bringing in varying experiences of the LGBTQ+ community around the globe, and ending as a vulnerable moment for a lot of people in the room.

We wrapped it all up with a cultural tour around Intramuros, and of course, a night out with the best drag show in the world.

These moments will stay with me for life. Not only did they make me feel appreciated, they also allowed me to make a real on-the-ground impact and build great relationships with leaders around the world.

This experience was years ago, but it is still completely consistent with the work we do at Radius Networks and our findings on ways ERGs can be recognized and valued. Dedicated time and resources, internal recognition and visibility, and training and development were just the top 3 areas.

Now that most of us ORM-alumnis are in different sectors and organizations, we continue to foster the relationships we've built, creating a ripple effect of impact on our communities.

Following the historic Ring the Bell for LGBTQ+ Equality in Thailand, we dove straight into a panel discussion sponsored by Deutsche Bank: "Why Asia's Capital Markets Can't Afford to Exclude."

To anchor the conversation, we brought in data from Radius Networks' 2026 ERG Impact Report. With Pride Networks currently ranking among the Top 5 employee networks in Asia, we highlighted a massive missed opportunity: ERGs are a highly upskilled, yet deeply underutilized talent pool. In fact, 70% of ERG leaders build transferable skills that directly enable them to perform against core business objectives. Failing to support, enable, and leverage them ultimately results in steep hidden costs across attrition, recruitment, and market reach.

Speaking directly to our audience of stock exchange members, business executives, and institutional leaders, we emphasized that ERGs must function as true business partners. This means actively involving them in talent strategies, consulting them on new internal policies, and engaging them in the development of products and services.

This space organized by TransTalents Consulting Group, PrideShow, UNDP Thailand and other collaborating organizations sparked an insightful conversation. It was a privilege sharing the stage with Björn Kempe Bastian Philip Ilgert, and Stephanie Galera as we mapped out exactly how the on-the-ground reality for the LGBTQ+ community is evolving in Thailand and beyond.

This year marks the 20th year of Steph and I being together. (Yes, we met when we were toddlers) That's not the only milestone we're celebrating. 🥂

2026 is proving to be a much brighter year for us than the rollercoaster of 2025. Back during IBM days, Steph and I were a duo fiercely advocating for inclusion together within our respective DE&I capacities. Now, I am equally excited to be working side-by-side with Steph again to advance inclusion in Asia, this time joining Open for Business as the Head of Growth for Asia, alongside several regional growth partnerships I am continuing to hold.

Having long supported Open for Business as a member of its Programme Advisory Board—specifically contributing to the Economic Case of LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Southeast Asia report and the Philippines briefing—I am thrilled to step into this expanded role. I look forward to leveraging the economic case for LGBTQ+ inclusion to drive progress in our target growth markets like South Korea, Hong Kong, and India, while widening our coalition partnerships across the region.

🌍 Reflections from Closing a Chapter

A few months ago, I was interviewed by GDotTV Ｇ點電視. The timing of this piece was heavy, as I gave these insights just as Community Business was preparing to close its doors. It made for a deeply reflective moment to look at where the corporate landscape in Asia is actually moving after a couple of decades of work.

The central takeaway is simple: Cooling down of language does not necessarily equate to a retreat in action.

♦️ The tactical shift in language: To lower external controversy and manage political or legal risks, many multinational companies are intentionally moving away from DE&I. Instead, they are repackaging these commitments into operational terms like "culture," "belonging," or "employee experience." The language is cooling down, but the substantive internal work remains.

♦️We are seeing a major shift toward regional differentiation. Global frameworks are being adapted to fit local market realities and legal guardrails rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all global metric. The strategy is becoming highly localized, intentional, and precise.

♦️ For a long time, a lot of corporate inclusion work in Asia relied heavily on external validation, like chasing awards, indexes and hitting PR milestones. With current economic pressures and the closure of legacy advocacy spaces, that superficial layer is clearing out. The work has to survive internally on its own operational merit.

♦️And we really have to recognize this is happening. The value of an inclusion leader is now deeply rooted in business operations. But let's be entirely honest about what this requires: it means our practitioners are carrying a massive, exhausting weight. As corporate structures streamline and external advocacy spaces close, these leaders are being asked to do far more with fewer resources. Always looking behind their shoulders. Stepping up to navigate complex systemic challenges every single day, but they are facing real, heavy burnout.

We cannot talk about business progress without actively acknowledging and supporting the human beings who are exhausting themselves to build it.

No matter how much they try to ruin it all, we've made progress and it will remain.
