It’s Pride Month, which means one thing is guaranteed: your feed is about to be flooded with the annual wave of LGBTQ+ movie recommendations.

You already know the usual suspects: Brokeback Mountain (2005), My Own Private Idaho (1991), the glorious filth of Pink Flamingos (1972) and all the other go-to titles that crowd the conversation. But separating “queer cinema” from the rest of film history is pointless anyway – it’s all just great cinema.

Koktail is skipping the obvious Hollywood blockbusters to bring you a list of criminally underrated, strictly international gems (with a Thai cinema deep-dive coming very soon). These films might not all fit neatly into a ready-made box; they inhabit a world of shifting identities and untamed desires that happily ignore the boundaries set by polite society.

Already recognised as one of Bangkok's leading fine dining destinations, Maison Dunand has entered a new chapter with the introduction of the Cuisine of the Alps. Koktail recently experienced chef Arnaud Dunand Sauthier's latest culinary vision, inspired by the ingredients, landscapes and traditions of the mountain regions of France, Switzerland and Italy.

The menu explores the broader culinary culture of the Alps, shaped by altitude, seasonality and generations of mountain living. Ingredients such as Alpine cheeses, dairy from high pastures, cold water fish, rye and buckwheat are presented through contemporary techniques. Having built his reputation in some of France's most respected kitchens before leading Le Normandie to two Michelin stars in Bangkok, chef Arnaud has now chosen to return to the flavours and traditions that first shaped his culinary identity.

This vision is expressed through a chef-led experience that evolves with the seasons and offers one of the region's few dedicated explorations of Alpine cuisine.

Maison Dunand is located in Sathorn Soi 10. Lunch is served on Fridays and Saturdays, with dinner available from Tuesday to Saturday. Tasting menus start from THB 4,950++.

Bringing a poetic mix of sight and sound straight to Chiang Mai, choreographic master and 2025 Future Lister Ronnarong “Ong” Khampha reclaims Lanna tradition in Ink: Neo Lanna Dance. The performance treats the human body as a canvas – a shifting terrain where fluid ink maps the boundaries of the flesh.

Together with musicians Wittaya Polvitoon, Witsarut Tawinno and Torpong Samerjai, Ronnarong bridges the gap between historical memory and modern expression. Backed by the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, this project is driven by a mission to empower local artists and open the doors of contemporary art to everyone.

Chef and our 2023 Future Lister Kongwuth “Kong” Chaiwongkachon, chef and sommelier of Chiang Rai’s Locus Native Food Lab, brings his vision of Northern Thai cuisine to Bangkok with Taang, a 12 seat chef’s table. Built around the idea of caravan, table and wine, the menu explores how Northern Thai food was formed through ancient caravans that connected communities across the North, shaped over time by movement, trade routes and cultural exchange. These journeys carried goods, spices, techniques and ideas, shaping the food culture that exists today.

So, Taang’s tasting menu follows the rhythm of travel rather than a fixed structure. It is not about strict categories, but about the movement of people and ingredients along historic routes linking Northern Thailand with Yunnan and the Shan hills. The result is a cuisine that is borderless, shaped by exchange rather than definition.

The experience is presented in an intimate chef’s table setting, like watching theatre. As both chef and sommelier, chef Kong also designs the beverage programme as part of the journey.

Opening on 1 June 2026 at Erawan Bangkok, Taang serves its tasting menu every Monday to Wednesday with one seating at 6.30pm. On the other days, the space flips into something more casual with khao soi on the menu, so stay tuned for that shift. The tasting menu is priced at THB 3,880++ per person with optional beverage pairing available.

You’re here with us again, Koktail Kurious returns with a simple question. If rest had a soundtrack in your life, what would it be?

For some, rest is silence. For others, it’s music that softens the noise of everyday life. A familiar voice, a gentle melody or a song that feels like it slows everything down for a moment.

We asked Thai celebrities what they listen to when they want to unwind. From their all-time favourites and film soundtracks to their own tracks, their answers say a lot about how they rest, reset and find calm in their own way.

Part one is here. Stay tuned for part two.
