𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬: 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 🔧

Our team is always experimenting with the tools behind our hybrid workflows — starting with ESPER, our digital scanning and photogrammetry capture system. The only one in Southeast Asia (so we’ve been told 😉).

ESPER uses 120 synchronized DSLR cameras firing simultaneously to capture photoreal digital doubles — full body geometry, facial micro-detail down to pores, FACS expression shapes, surface texture data, and real-world lighting reference.

From there, our pipeline turns raw capture into production-ready 3D assets — built to integrate seamlessly with VFX pipelines, virtual production workflows, real-time engines, and any downstream production that needs a photoreal digital human.

First episode dropping here with our ESPER unboxing video.

Tropicana Twister: Make It Juicier 🍊

When the brief calls for a world where physical and digital coexist — a real environment that bursts into surrealism, a digital character sharing the frame with live talent, across two markets — that's where hybrid production comes in.

For Tropicana Twister's "Make It Juicier" campaign, delivered across Vietnam and Malaysia, we built a four-stage workflow:

𝐀𝐈 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐳 — Rapid world-building and digital avatar exploration before a single light is rigged. Faster stakeholder alignment, clearer creative decisions, fewer surprises on set.

𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 — Real-time lighting, color, and environment control built in-camera on our LED volume stage in Bangkok. What the client approved in previs is what appears on screen — made possible by the Virtual Art Department (VAD) team with Moonji.

𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 — Performance-driven character animation for the Tropicana Twister digital mascot. A real performer inside the character is what separates believable from CG only.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 + 𝐂𝐆 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝 — Real textures combined with scalable CG surrealism, delivering cinematic quality without full-CG cost.

One day of shooting. Assets that extended across two markets without an additional shoot day. Big creative ambition, delivered on a tight production timeline.

This is hybrid production at Studio X Beyond — where virtual production, AI previs, motion capture, and CG blend into one seamless workflow.

👇 BTS dropping soon.

We can't name the project. We can share what the VFX Supervisor said about it.

VFX Supervisor Lee Stringer recently completed his second VP/LED wall production with Studio X Beyond — a major motion picture requiring dozens of in-camera shots across a full live shoot.

A separate ESPER team ran concurrently, handling digital double scans for cast — two workflows, one coordinated production.

"𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙, 𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙. 𝙇𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣."

Thank you, Lee, for believing in us. Hope to see you again soon!

Virtual production works when everyone on set speaks the same language.

Here's how one of the most experienced virtual production DPs in the market described his shoot at Studio X Beyond:

And his final word?

"𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚."

👏 Where High-End Visuals Meet High-Level Engineering ✨

Beyond the sexy reels and the BTS videos, the real foundation of a world-class facility is what keeps it running safely.

When building for international productions, "standard" fire and safety systems aren't enough. You need engineering tailored to the unique chaos of a film set—atmospheric fog, massive LED walls, and high equipment density.

We brought in Ashlar to evaluate our future infrastructure against NFPA 140 standards. They didn’t just meet the international benchmark; they pushed everyone to go further. Studio X Beyond will be more than ready thanks to Ashlar.

The technology isn't the problem—the old way of working is.

Most studios force you to pick two: Speed, Quality, or Budget. We think that’s a tired trade-off.

By pairing our Virtual Art Dept with our Virtual Production stage, we’ve collapsed the timeline.
What used to take months now takes days.

No more "fixing it in post" or compromising on the day. Just real-time iteration and total creative control.

Come see how we’re breaking the traditional production loop at ADFEST 2026.

Our CEO Linda Lim and Head of Creative Tech Martin Rivera will be on the ground in Pattaya showing you how it’s done.

Studio X Stories — Episode 4

Director Jean wanted California highways, desert sunsets, and dreamlike transitions. In a single shoot day. In Bangkok.

Her words say it best:

"It would have been impossible to move across so many locations in a single day. Virtual production became the perfect solution... They helped bring the visual in my head to life."

That's the thing about VP—it's not just faster. It lets directors actually be inside the world they're building.

For this final installment of the Bloomberg Bangkok Bank series, we tackled the Renewable Energy Opportunity—a topic that could easily come across rather dry.

Virtual production let us build the world around the conversation, not just film people talking about it. Practical set pieces blended with a 3D environment rendered live on LED—so instead of talking heads in front of slides, you feel like you're in the room with them.

Another reminder: corporate videos don't have to look corporate.

Senior executives at Bangkok Bank show us how to navigate one of the world’s most culturally diverse and competitive regions.

The smallest gifts hold the biggest love. 🎁

This holiday, we're grateful for the clients who trusted us with their vision, the collaborators who made the impossible possible, and the creative community that inspires us every day.

Here's to a season of showing up — messy ribbon and all.
Happy holidays from Patchboy and the entire Moonji × Studio X Beyond family. ✨
