Before Danny Lent became everyone’s favourite Bangkok bestie, He was just a curious Aussie kid geeking out over blogs in his bedroom. Fast forward a few glow-ups later and he’s now one of the city’s most loved online voices – turning scooter rides, slang lessons and street-side chaos into viral gold.

His famous Thai gay slang series is a variety show of comedy, culture and connection that has both locals and expats laughing (and learning) together. But behind the jokes and jump cuts is a story with heart about finding where you belong, embracing your queerness and serving narak and confident energy in a world that sometimes tells you to tone it down.

Bangkok’s music scene has transformed over the past few years, led by crews of DJs and collectives, Thai and international, carving out corners where sound, community and experimentation come first. They’re not just throwing parties – they’re building spaces where overlooked voices finally get heard.

DIY at heart, these groups swap skills, share resources and push nights that feel unpredictable yet welcoming. Some lean on art and workshops, others on mentoring, while plenty just make the room feel alive. What ties them together is a refusal to compromise on inclusivity or equality.

In the past few years they’ve shifted more than nightlife – they’ve sparked spaces where connections grow, where the crowd feels part of something bigger. Here are eight crews to keep on your radar, each one a different story, a different sound, and a different vision of what nightlife can, and should, be.

Bangkok commuters, take note! BTS Green Line fares are changing. Short trips will be cheaper, but longer rides across the city will cost noticeably more. A quick ride from Asok to Phrom Phong might drop from B17 to just B3-4, giving short-distance travellers a small win. But if you commute across multiple stops or from end to end, fares will rise, with longer journeys approaching the B65 maximum. With the flat B20 fare dream on hold, the update reflects the real cost of running the system, meaning daily commutes and long-distance trips will hit your wallet harder.

October’s doing its usual thing – a bit of drizzle, a few grey mornings, and just enough breeze to make you believe Bangkok might actually have seasons. The city’s swapping its heavy heat for softer weather, and suddenly that jumper in the back of your wardrobe doesn’t look so ridiculous.

The Meteorological Department reckons cool air will show up fashionably late this year, around the end of October, sticking around until February 2026. It won’t be quite as cool as last year – about 21C on average, but we’ll take it.

Cooler evenings mean excuses to head out again. We’ve rounded up the best things to do this month – from art shows to riverside plans. Bangkok feels lighter for a moment, like the city’s remembering how to breathe before summer comes knocking again.
Tap below to see ‘cool’ activities for the cool season.

We all love Bangkok’s skyline, just not when it’s hidden behind a haze. In an effort to clear the air, Governor Chadchart has announced a full plan to make the air cleaner year-round. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is tightening PM2.5 controls, expanding low-emission zones for trucks and electric vehicles and even teaming up with nearby provinces to stop agricultural fires that make the haze worse. There are also some cool initiatives like dust-free classrooms for kids and a work-from-home program for over 200,000 people to help reduce pollution.

Every other year, Bangkok turns delightfully bizarre. Not in the ‘get lost in a tuk-tuk’ kind of way – more like walking through a shopping mall and bumping into a giant sculpture about climate collapse. That’s the Bangkok Art Biennale, back in October 2026 with a mix of temples, towers and a fair bit of everything.

This time it’s all about ‘Angels and Mara’ – a tug of war between light and shadow, hope and conflict. Artists from 39 countries are set to fill the city with works that make you look twice, think harder and maybe question everything a little.

Eight spots to keep on your map: Wat Arun, Wat Pho, Wat Prayurawongsawas, BACC, Museum Siam, National Museum, The National Gallery and One Bangkok.

From October 29 2026 to February 28 2027, the capital will become an open-air gallery. Expect the sacred beside the surreal, the modern next to the mythical, and art where you least expect it.

Bangkok’s favourite vloggers are stepping away from the cameras and heading to the pub. YouTube Stories lands at O’Leary’s this Saturday October 11 at 8pm, with Pat McKay – better known as Bangkok Pat – hosting an evening built around storytelling, awkward confessions and maybe one too many laughs.

Pat’s joined by Adam Jones (Keis One, or ‘Aussie living abroad’), Jeroen Maduro (‘Dutch expat in Bangkok’), Serg (‘American living in Bangkok’) and the ever-curious traveller Paddy Doyle (‘A YouTuber and World traveller’’). Between them, they’ve spent years filming Bangkok’s odd corners and big characters, but this time it’s all live, no edits, no scripts.

Expect tall tales, half-truths and free Mot Daeng Hot Sauce to keep things spicy. It’s Bangkok, after all – the stories only get better once the drinks start flowing.
